    Hey all, first time poster in a bit of a bind. I've been working pretty hard on one of our sites recently, adding new products etc. I havn't done anything major, just adding new products. lastnight I went to check to see if google had picked up the work I did last week and to my horror our site is no longer being displayed on google for anything, even products we were ranking #1 for!

    I do know my host recently sold out to another company but I don't think this is the reason as our other site is still ranking well.

    The domain in trouble is www.camera-shop.co.nz

    I have since installed webmaster tools but that isn't showing any clues really... can some kind knowledgeable soul please give me some clues as to whats happening here?

    EDIT: looking at my sitemap some url's have www. in front and some don't... this can't be helping surely? Would google be thinking these are duplicate pages?

    So no suggestion as to what may have caused our sudden, massive drop off from google?

    @camera-shop
    Your website has canonical issues which is leading to duplicate content for your website, devaluating your website in Google ranking. Also it is an ecommerce website so you need some solid SEO base in order to achieve good ranking in Google. Add your website into webmaster tool account and Google will notify about the ranking issue of your website if it have any!

    If you have more questions regarding the issue feel free to ask here.
    Regards

    If you were ranking for 'camera shop' and that hes now dropped this is due to google devalueing the power of keyword strong domain names. Having keywords in domains used to be a benefit. Not now on google.

    You just lost your ranking because of the new EMD update of Google , some problems I have found in your On-Page Optimization.

    1) Robots.Txt file not present. [For Block junk Urls]
    2) Canonical Tag not used. [For Block duplicate Urls] {Must for E-commerce sites}

    If you are using Google Webmaster Tool then Good to the Health menu and Check the crawl error of your site.

    Does your domain name matches with your keyword exactly? According to a recent google update, if your domain matches exactly with your keyword, it will lost it's position.

    Hi, yes that was my guess too. I have since fixed this issue (hopefully) and generated a new sitemap which I have submitted to webmaster tools. Is this the best first move?
