Hi macrosoft85,are you saying that having a keyword as part of your domain name is no longer of any benefit with Google SEO?I realise that this is only one aspect of good SEO but it is something I have always tried to pay attention to!Can I ask where you go this information from?ThanksJon

Google announced the EMD Update, a new filter that tries to ensure that low-quality sites don’t rise high in Google’s search results simply because they have search terms in their domain names.

    Thanks Sharadsharma,

that makes sense now. These Google changes really have hit people hard haven't they? We had a site selling electric toys which regularly hovered around the top of page 2/bottom of page 1 for a very good keyword.

Overnight we were getting listed on page 12 and slowly have dropped into nowhere!

I can see what Google is doing and hopefully it will be for the better (no more black hat stuff!).

So, having a search term in your domain name is still a good thing but only if your content is good and your ticking all the other 'right' boxes. I might need to learn from scratch!!

    Cheers

    Jon

Sites have not been hit simply due to being an exact match, they have just given less credit to those with EMD's that adopt poor SEO practices.

If any keyword comes in your domain name naturally then there is no problem at all. But if you are stuffing keywords in your domain then it will effect your domain ranking.
