Free directories or paid directories

I know that submit to directories is very important but i just want to know which ones are better? or in which ones you get more backlinks?

 

Paid directories are obviously the best choice, as the listings are usually well-edited and maintained.

Every good directory is a paid one. It's a good link, has a good rank and good traffic = more chances for your website to get noticed.

I think you've not asked the right question and therefore have gotten the wrong answers.

Your question starts with which directories are better to submit to.

First off, quality is not guaranteed simply because the directory charges for listings.

The best directories to submit to are those that...

1. Maintain strict categorization - are the listings in each category for sites that are actually about that topic?

2. Don't accept garbage sites - search for the word flower on the directory. If there are tons of listings for Indian florists, it's a directory that accepts anything and will provide little value.

3. Look at the PR score. If only the homepage has PR, the site is not all that well-respected by Google. The exception to this is if the directory is new and wasn't built on a dropped domain.


There's a number of other things to consider but those three will generally eliminate most of the directories that are a waste of time to submit to.


As to you question about being free or paid...it's really about numbers moreso than a standard answer. There are excellent free directories and excellent paid directories. There are also tons of free and paid directories that are not worth visiting, much less submitting too.There are far more garbage free directories than garbage paid directories which is part of the reason why you have gotten the answers you have so far. Of course, I also suspect a number of the replies have come from paid directory owners. In the spirit of full disclosure, I own two free niche directories.

Which, brings me to my next point. The absolute best directories to submit a site to are well-edited and well-maintained niche ones - free and paid.

 

Both are important, if you spend the money for increase reputed backlins or instantly approved backlinks you can go for paid or else do one way link free directory submissions, its create backlinks may be later but hope will get approved backlinks in future.

i think "YMC" has made a very good point by mentioning those valuable points, a directory must have all those important points in it, otherwise you are not adding a single point in value of your site.

 

Use both of them. Add your websites to free directories and select the best paid directories to use your budget wisely. Not every paid directory is worth paying but there are really good ones around.

I see everybody talk about good thing for paid directories.

What Google say about paid directories? As we know Google hate when somebody pay for backlinks!

This is little strange. If Google find that you was pay for backlinks then he not give you Google ads or, in worst case penalize site from search engines because of paid links, how is possible if you pay for your site to be listed in directories, is good?!

 

Reputable paid directories don't accept payments for backlinks. Paid directories, with editorial standards, accept payments to cover the labor involved with editing the submission and for the ongoing maintenance of their directories.

 

paid directory is more worth but DMOZ directory as well..but very difficult to be listed on dmoz directory
