I'm starting a job soon where I will be dealing with PHP solutions and Magento , I have looked through the Magento wiki etc and played around with an install for it . But im still quite confused by how it works. Especially the MVC side of things (most of my PHP experience comes from working with wordpress). I would like to know if anyone has got any good resources or books etc for learning Magento .... the only alternative for me is to attend a certification course which is expensive at over 1000 $....
Its not so bad really. I am not really even a programmer and I have somehow managed to get around it. Its more so just getting familiar with where everything is. There are some ebooks floating around that should greatly speed things up for you though.. https://www.google.com/search?q=mag...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a https://www.google.com/search?q=def...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a hope that helps, Nigel
Here are a few resource that you can look for free. I am sure you can find more by google search http://www.magentocommerce.com/resources/magento-user-guide http://www.magentocommerce.com/design_guide
What on the job training is your new employer offering? Or have you told them you are already an expert? Personally, I'd buy some hosting, install magento and install plugins etc and see how it all hangs together.
You'd be surprised how much YouTube can help you on something like this. I had trouble with OpenCart at first, on some of the options they were claiming and how to set them up. Good ole' YT had videos explaining what to do and such...I'm sure for Magento it's the same way.
I was just started using Magento for my site. Thanks for sharing this useful information, it will be helpful for me..
You can get the best Magento tutorials online easily and Forum discussion sites are really good option for learning Magento.
The best way to learn magento is to read and learn on Magento through online. Magento Commerce-Knowledge Base Page is the right place to learn on Magento.
