I'm looking for tips on where I can find writers that would be able to regularly provide a few hundred words on trending topics in industries such as:

    facilities management
    utilities
    Internet & broadband
    Telecommunications
    Computer Security

Isn't it rather obvious that you can find writers right here on DP? Post in the content creation section.

As awundrin says you can post in Content Creation section. There you will get writers to write on your topics.

Thanks. I hadn't actually found that sub-forum. Interestingly though when I click on the part of your post that says 'content creation' I get taken to an external website where you buy a plan presumably this is some kind of intermediary

Another part of the question is what type brief does a copy writer require? Is something like "300 words on the control of substances hazards to health regulations" adequate?

Doesn't that make sense? I would have thought a writer could then go and write a 300 word original précis from wikipedia on the control of substances hazardous to health"

Ahh I see a typo....Harzards and not Hazardous....That is why I can not copy write. Is that the only problem with it?

You know, I also thought that made no sense, even after you corrected the typo... Then I Googled it. There should totally be some regulation on the unwieldy naming of regulations...

Real writers don't use Wikipedia as a source, dear.

In theory, any place where writers congregate is a good one (DP included). In practice the signal to noise ratio will be quite low due to all the spam.

My workaround is to use places where submitting a proposal has a cost higher than zero. Elance would be the perfect example. You will get far fewer proposals, the fees will be higher, but the quality of the writers will be with an order of magnitude higher than what you can find in a free for all market.

Another way would be to use the "invisible" market. Just stalk the copywriting forums, find people who seem to know what they're doing and communicate exclusively through private messages.

    Cheers,

Elance is a great place to go to get writing services. I have used them many times, and any work you have done is guaranteed by the site

I recently signed up for iWriter. Haven't used them yet, but, looks like a strong option for my next project. Brad Callen has been around for awhile. Although, not always my favorite in matters of IM, I do give his projects consideration. Good Luck and Have Fun!

Forgive me if I sound to blunt but I have found it very hard to find good quality writers from places like freelancer and elance. Recently I had a really bad dealing with freelancer where the person gave around 150 words and none of it was readable in english...

I had to search far and wide...

I ended up at QuickArticles.biz website where I chose them for 3 top reasons:

    1) top of the search engine organically for more than one keyword.
    2) not a ton of linkage to get that spot
    3) overall good keyword/article writers from everything I had seen them write

As a writer myself I can tell the difference in article quality but as of recent time was of the essence. I NEEDED HELP

I chose to sign up for their monthly service which is a decent price for what they offer.

100% English writers and it shows, Unique Content nothing spun and a fast turn-around rate.

I got my articles within a few days with no complaints

I hope this helps any other person having or that has had the same problem.

    Again thats QuickArticles.biz

P.S. they have live chat which I loved as a feature. I could ask all the questions I needed with a live person before I deceided...

Wow! I am sorry you had such a terrible experience. I assure you that there are many quality writers on Elance and I consider myself to be one of them. It's too bad that there are people misrepresenting themselves as writers and giving the rest of us a bad reputation.

I decided to check out a sample article from the site referenced as having good content. Here is a sample of the first sample I looked at- the bolds are mine:

[h=3]Reason 1: Active links in the body of the article.
    [/h]

The only place that directories want to see and active link is in the author resource

box. This is fairly standard with most article submission directories. With google on

the warpath for links this is especially crucial to a quick article writer.

[h=3]Reason 2: The article does not belong in the directory.[/h]
Search engines want to see relevant content. They use keywords to understand the
article. If the article is about dogs and you mention cats then it can be rejected
solely on this basis. Articles need to be fine tuned to one keyword. Usually this is

true of a large percentage of niche directory rejections. Likewise, if a directory is
about Internet Promotion, do not submit an article about breast augmentation.

[h=3]Reason 3: The article was not submitted to the right category.[/h]

Article submittion sites will not move an article if they feel it is not in the

correct category, they will simply discard it by rejection. If it is in the correct

general category they may or may not change its location depending on their terms of
service and their workload. If an author submits without any clear thought or effort

why should a directory need to take the time.

I'm back. Don't get me wrong- everyone makes minor mistakes. But how about proofreading before putting a sample article on the site?? How did this not get picked up by the company publishing this as copy? I won't even get into the sentence structure issues. I don't usually point these kinds of things out because I wouldn't like my work picked apart, but this company is being touted as a better choice than Elance.
