I'm looking for a CMS that has these capabilities. I am familiar with some out there, Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress but not sure which one would be better suited for a site I'm considering creating. Allows user uploads (pics only) Allows users to select categories their pics are uploaded to Ratings for their pics FB like / Twitter tweet / Pin buttons Categorized menu dynamically Comments on uploads Allows viewers to browse uploaders uploads I've been out of the website game a few years so I'm not which CMS script would fit. Any suggestions?
Would go with WP for a range of reasons. This should get you going... Its a bit of work but nothing at all taxing. http://wp.tutsplus.com/tutorials/allow-users-to-submit-images-your-site/ hope that helps, Nigel
If you are familiar with all the 3 CMS then you could have come to an solution. If i am were to choose i prefer Joomla than other 2. Obviously wordpress is easy to use but it lacks requirements for a website. Drupal is bit tough and need indepth knowledge. With so many free and paid extensions available it is better to opt Joomla. If you need to know more about joomla and its services step in http://www.usjoomlaforce.com
That entire statement is patently absurd and only complete noobs and hacks use Joomla. Its a convoluted mess. Wordpress lacks nothing. Nigel
Thanks Nigel, I'm also looking for users to have a profile where site visitors can browse their uploads too. That tutorial just seems like to allow for uploads, not everything else I'm looking for. 1. User submissions of photos only 2. Ratings for those submissions 3. Social Media buttons to like/share/pin 4. Allow user to select category to upload photo too 5. Admin approval before published 6. Comments of course. 7. Have users have profiles or browseable uploads from said user And the ability for site users to select from drop down or other sort of menu to search/view categories
http://buddypress.org/ There ya go(perhaps overkill)... can add forums, etc. Social media buttons are easy. Just grab this http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/share-this/ which essentially sticks whatever you want under posts. 4. already does that 5. can set posts to be drafts first(good idea of course lol) Basically, all I am saying is that anything you need to do has already been done and exists as a plugin that simply already works. You just have to poke around a bit. For all intents and purposes, images are posts in this case. If you can shoot me an example of what you are trying to do I would be happy to be a bit more specific. Themeforest is awesome as well. Found this in under 5 seconds http://themeforest.net/item/i-love-it-content-sharing-wordpress-theme/698475 hope that helps, sorry if I seem a tad rushed. I am feeding my roomates youngster. Nigel
