http://seoblackhat.com/2006/11/21/free-porn/ Interesting article about possible algo change with google, pr0n sites no longer rank top on pr0n keywords. Also, there is one really interesting comment at the page So this could be something big..
I think its necessary steps to take because daily pages are increasing with speed of megaton while Google has option of displaying 10 results to meet both ends .. user convenience and showing that we can display more relevant at top.
That is disturbing. But if searchers are looking for retail stores they will also adjust their search terms to get to the retailers just as the article described, so it may not have much affect. Where this could have affects is for content type sites. This could mean a nice jump in traffic for these types sites that used to go to the retail type sites. Who knows that may be Google's plan to get more traffic to the content based sites (AdSense sites). This will obviously make retail advertisers more dependent on ppc and thus make Google even more money.
Nothing to see here.. please move along.... It's likely just a tweak of the content filter ( for safe and non-safe) it's in the options... seems to be a tweak there for the main index.. If it migrates to areas outside of Porn.. then we can start talking... unless your a Porn webmaster, then I am sorry to hear it :0)
That's not what some people are thinking. I don't know how this will affect me yet, searches to my sites went up a little bit but nothing dramatical http://seoblackhat.com/2006/11/23/disruption-causes-opportunity-in-the-marketplace/
I agree with this... I hope this does not push through if it will affect retail sites for will mean additional costs and less revenue.
I've been puzzled with the same question: last few days if you search for sex toys, you get greenpeace, wikipedia, bbc, yahoo directory etc on the first page. It used to rank shops, old established websites on first page for years.
