I am not sure if I will upgrade. All I can see is just a new design and few javascript gadgets.

Definitely will never upgrade. Too slow, too many queries to render a page (100+), too much bloat (CSS files about 450KB, etc.)

Yes, I think this is the end of the road now for vB...

The direction it is taking is somewhat impulsive... It's trying to go social media look and feel. Following a trend rather than setting an example as a pioneer CMS.

My impression is the new vB5 looks more like phpBB!! The previous vb4/vB3 was a clear branding of competence and superiority over other CMSs. It appears those times are over now...

"vbulletin 5 connect" is still in beta
I wish they wouldn't of started selling it either but it is a good way to get a lot of feedback and hopefully improve bug fixes. The developers have been putting out nightly builds for a while and they've stated they'll continue to do so.
I'll be interested to see how it looks a month from now.

"judging" by a link to your own blog..lol

It looks like a complete mess IMO :(. Or at least the homepage does on the main demo, plus it's kinda slow as others have already pointed out.

I'm with Internet Brands. We have entered the beta testing period with the hope of benefitting from significant user feedback on the product. Now that the beta has been publicly released, we've begun the process of incorporating this input into our development queue. This is going to allow us to more quickly make important improvements to the product.

That's nice of you, representing and follow up on behalf of Internet Brands.

DP is one of the biggest webmaster forum, and I am sure many member here have forums using VB.

Please share your comments and feedback.

I think they should finish VB4 off before they start moving the goal posts and releasing VB5 to us at a higher price for a lesser quality product.

Loads still not perfect in VB4.

got vb4 just a short while back. now there's vb5 and a huge upgrade cost. US$200 to go from vb4 to 5 is madness. has vbulletin4 reached end of life already?

I will say vb5 is a disaster. vBulletin is just getting more and more a disaster with each new version release.

vB4 was not that bad but was not on the expectations of clients using vB3. Now vB5 just looks like a whole bunch of features that a forum don`t need. They are just adding things to get a new version and not thinking what should be added.

I personally feel that they are just money lovers and don`t care about there customers at all.

Piece of trash, spent 200 bucks on that vB4 garbage just because it looked flashy.

I don't remember seeing anything "flashy" about vBulletin 4, why exactly do you call it garbage?
