I hope I'm right too. Nobody I know in the US desires open warfare with the Iranian people. That said, the stuff Ahmadenijad says and does scares the crap out of most people here.

Your perspective has made me look at the entire Syrian conflict in a different light. On the one hand, it would be nice if Iran didn't use Syria as a proxy to harass Israel. On the other, the people who are revolting look in many ways worse than the existing regime.

There are many critical voices on the right in America, chastising Obama for not getting involved in Syria. I don't see how anyone, right or left, can not view our involvement in Libya as a mistake. If there were a protest we should have supported, if only with words, the Iranian revolution would have probably been the one. Even then, our involvement would be a very delicate matter. No matter, that ship has sailed.

 

Syria is Important for us, without it probably we will lose Lebanon too and maybe Iraq either and guess it gonna happen. I think Israel is more comfortable with Assad than unknown Sunnis power there. I love to see Assad regime overthrew but not sure it will be peaceful then. Syrian regime killed a lot of Sunnis and don't think they forget that after overthrew the regime and start peaceful life, more bloodshed is in the way unfortunately.

 

Tell that to the Europeans that cannot get rid of these pests.

The editors at DMOZ never got to know who I am and they are much more experienced than a chop shop operator from Romania but if it makes you happy, go on.
