No idea why we send Libya anything more than a Merry Christmas postcard with a picture of bacon on it.

Right now they aren't even a country, just a bunch of guys that beat each other up to achieve their own goals.
Using that criteria we should appoint an ambassador to the NHL.

It is funny how the tune changes in a couple of months from "we are so great, we have so many guns and we change the governments" to "it has got nothing to do with us."

You realize that Libya has more than enough oil to pay for its people and that was the reason USA wanted to change the regime to make it easier for American corporations to steal their oil, don´t you?

All the oil money was used to build palaces or spent on the military, and any that was left is now in Luxembourg or Swiss bank accounts in the names of sons and daughters of high up officials.
Meanwhile their schools have no blackboards (or female students, but that's another story) and their hospatals have no penicillin.

Shouldn't we be glad they are just dead beats ? Who cares what happens to them ? In my own personal opinion we should pull out the embassy there and leave them alone. Wait ! what about the oil ?

Whether ALL Libyans are turkeys or not isn't my point. I didn't call for nuking the place, I said we should LEAVE. Last I heard, you supported the idea of us not interfering. That's what I am proposing. I'm all for us leaving places that dont especially want us there, and ceasing to hand them tax dollars that we dont have to spare while we are at it.

Point is the fledgling govt there is incapable of enforcing even the most basic of international requirements... ensuring the safety of the diplomatic preserves on their soil. They had armed cops present, they just decided not to get involved. So our Ambassador and 3 others died. Doesn't tend to encourage people to send diplomats.

I'm just suggesting that since they arent our ally we need not pay them foreign aid... they arent our problem. They arent stable, so we need not have diplomats there.

As for oil... if we drill everything we have at our disposal we can mitigate if not eliminate the need for oil in countries like Libya. I'm not concerned about disturbing the caribou.

Before we leave those turkeys we need to bring those accountable to justice. Get them and we provide them accommodations at Gitmo. They used the event for killing a US Ambassador. It was planned and it means they wanted a fight. I'm all for leaving them without anything not even a dime. They can drink their oil for all I care. Let us bring the perps back here.

    No argument on that point.

I don't doubt there are plenty of fine people in any country, normal folks that love their kids, respect their mom and dad, treat their pets nicely, etc. Just don't think that the ones that let radicals run free to climb like monkeys over the wall of foreign embassies are the best place to send foreign aid or diplomats. We can talk diplomacy on Skype if they want to... but sacrificing the lives of our diplomats in backward third world countries is dumb.

A casual glance at the cars on my morning commute put about 1 in 10 vehicles on the road as a hybrid. $4.50/gallon gas is driving the market.

Average MPG of the the hybrids is 45mpg, with the new PHEVs getting something closer to 100mpg. Considering the cars being replaced by those hybrids averaged around 17mpg, it seems our demand for oil may soon be plummeting. If our slightly retarded president would issue drilling permits, complete oil Independence seems easily achievable.

If you think its bad now, just wait until oil poverty hits the middle east. Those people are screwed.

We really should be drilling every place there are large deposits of oil... Alaska, the Gulf, Debbie Wasserman Schultz head, etc. Shutting down drilling on public lands while subsidizing drilling in South America is a pretty odd way to go.

    That is sad to hear.

In other news, the NY Times is reporting that in Egypt they are hanging President Obama in effigy.

And the oil company owners who force US government to go to war, use all their extra profit to solve homelessness, lack of Medicare and hunger in the USA.

Do you even know anything about Libya?

If he knows we don't get our oil from Libya, then he apparently knows more than you.

    Did Elvis tell you that?

Liberals were screaming that we invaded Iraq to plunder their oil. I liked that argument, but even today there is no proof it's true. I'm in favor of taking enough Iraqi oil until we pay for all three USA/Iraq wars.

Never once did I mention the US in my post above.
All my venom was aimed at oil rich states where the populations are kept poor and uneducated by well educated despot Colonels and Generals.

Not to mention that Romney was simply stating the obvious. He just said what everyone else was already thinking. Why in the @#$@#$ is the white house apologizing for free speech in response to what is essentially a terrorist attack on US soil on the anniversary of 9-11?

the decline started with Egypt becoming a Roman province about 2040 years ago. It however took more than 200 years for it to become a cesspool.
