I would concern myself more with creating more content and getting more visitors to click ads like that.

I think you are looking at the yahoo search results, not overture. Search results have nothing to do with actual searches for a keyword. It has an overture of 296K, but there are only two advertisers bidding on the keyword (12 cents, 10 cents). If you are looking to increase your click payout, you might want to try and find a related, but more focused keyword that is higher paying.

the overture results (overture is now called yahoo search marketing) can be found by signing up for an ad account with YSM. Or, you can access the same tool w/o signup by going to Aaron Walls' www.seobook.com. he's got a really really great concept, but it always freezes my computer, so try at your own risk.

I dont think you can really track the ads themselves. Just make as many channels as possible for every ad position, and theme of teh site, this way u would know which ads bring more and which, if they dont get clicked, can be removed.

Also, the less ads on the page - the higher is the bid per click, so having ads allover the place results that even the lowest bid ads get displayed or, worst of all, irrelevant ads that bring one cent, at best.

There are several programs that tell you exactly which ad was clicked, what keyword, what search engine, IP address, color of ad, page, etc.
