This issue started today itself, never had this issue before (since 3 years).

I re-uploaded all wordpress files, but it did not solve the issue. I renamed my theme folder as -old, but still of no use.

P.S. : I recently had malware attack, which I cleaned and also removed the fake users from my admin panel.

Please guys, anybody help me solve this issue.

Do you have cookies allowed? Have you tried logging in with another browser?

Have you upgraded to the latest version? It might fix the problem by wiping old files with the new ones.

Have you tried resetting the password for the admin user?

If that doesn't do it you might have to restore/replace some of the MYSQL tables manually using phpMyAdmin

your host should have some kind of backup. Have you tried contacting them, there may be a small fee (or not), you'd lose any updates you made from the time of the backup, but it can be an option.

Well, sometimes wordpress doesn't let me login. When it happens, I will delete all of my cache / cookies. And reset the password from phpmyadmin. It works everytime.

Thank you guys for your suggestion.

I solved this issue today. The problem was with the password. My admin login password and the mail password was same. I changed the password and now it's working fine. Again I changed the password to previous one (i.e., same as mail one) then same problem occurred. Then I have to change it again to make it work normal.

I did not understand guys, why is it happening? I mean does having password same as admin login and mail makes any problem. It never happened since a year...

The only thing I can think of is that there is a character within your password of some other problem with your password that is causing a problem somewhere in the way php and or MYSQL handles, encrypts, stores and retrieves the password

I did not have spaces, it were only alphabets with special characters.
