    Hey everyone,
I have a situation here where I got stuck in India, had originally come to the country under student visa but lost my passport and now my residential permit (police registration) has been expired 1 year ago. What should I do? How can I exit from India?

Here's what I had in my mind.
    - Ask my family in my country to get a new passport (but issuance of new visa is not possible) and go to the border of India and Nepal and bribe the officers there to get Nepal visa and go to Nepal.

    Any other options?
    Need help.

I guess that you don't need visa to go back to your original country. (your passport and the ticket to aboard on airplane it's all you will need in most cases)

But then my new passport will not have any trace of me coming to India in the first place, and no stamps of airport security at the back pages of my passport. Plus the indian customs will ask for my RP (residential permit - which is expired) so exiting India legally is not possible for me at the moment. So I am looking for ways to gtfo of here.

Call your embassy as indiajobvacancy said or go to the harbor in the city you are in and jump on to a boat.

I don't know how things work in Nepal but if I was in India and lost my passport (which is the short version of your story) I'd go to the NZ embassy (because I'm a New Zealander) and tell them I've lost my passport. They would give me the forms and the cost and I'd apply for a new one and it would come with whatever other documentation I needed. It wouldn't come with my UK entry info and I'd have to reapply for that later but I would not be left stateless and without the ability to travel back home.

That you even think of bribes when a passport could be couriered/mailed to you is kind of weird, don't you think?
