source Incredible. The cops shot the miners and charge the miners with murder. "it's their fault we shot them". This story has just begun. Who said big mining isn''t wholly corrupted?
Have you watched the video? 5-10-15 years of forced labor is duly owed by every one of them , perhaps on the very same mine. Besides, they killed quite a bit of people before the shooting incident. Some even were burn alive.
Just what was reported on the TV news at the time of the shooting. I saw it on BBC website last night and found this news absolutely incredible. Today it's made our ABC. I'm stunned they could think anybody will accept that, let alone think they'll get away with that. It stinks of absolute tyranny.
Thy killed 34 people , raped a few women and chopped down multiple police officers who first time to interact with them . The shooting followed next day when the machete wielding mob charged at the equivalent of a SWAT team . To save their lives the cops gunned down the attackers . That's the reality .
There probably is another side of the story, no doubt, but shooting someone dead then charging them with murder is incomprehensible imho. So if my friends and I rob a bank and the cops shoot two tellers I get charged with murder? The fella last week in NYC who shot that person where the cops shot 9 others - if he lived - gets charged with all the people the cops shot too?
Multiple miners where armed with firearms captured from downed cops . During the charge on the police those miners emptied their weapons . This is why it's unclear who killed who . Obviously the cops with automatics downed a good number of attackers . The fact that the charges are placed on the rest of the attackers is simply serving as a deterrent since the situation is still highly tense .
Yes, it is called felony murder here in the states. If while you are committing a felony someone gets killed due to the actions you put in motion, you can be charged with murder. So if you are a buddy are robbing a bank and your buddy shoots at a cop and the cop shoots back but hits and kills a teller - you and your friend will be charged with felony murder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felony_murder_rule
What if you did not shoot at the cops but they shot and kill someone? What if you're unarmed? FTR, our news and the news I have read does not mention miners shot cops first. Only heard that from ApocalypseXL so far.
I think the miners made a mistake in making this a violent protest. With that, it makes it difficult or impossible to feel a lot of sympathy for them. This is video footage of the shooting. It looks like police just shot at ones that actually were running at them with weapons. Also, I guess they had just hacked to death two police officers. Warning: Graphic video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12ZdBwkp2lw
Two days earlier 2 cops were violently killed. I agree that should not have happened, and it puts a new light on things however we're not told the surrounding circumstances of that event. Rebecca's video link says "South African police forced the men into an area surrounded by razor wire then they boxed them in using armoured vehicles." No wonder tensions were high. The underlying news that came across to me is this is union against union and one side seems to have the police in their pocket. Can you imagine if every OWS supporter was charged with murder because someone in the crowd got killed?
You have to be committing a violent felony to be charged with felony murder. Your hypothetical just would not happen in reality. As for needed to shoot first, I don't think that is a requirement, nor do I think it needs to be. If you pull a gun or even a knife during a robbery it is certainly a foreseeable consequence that someone else (police) is going to respond with a gun. If you kill someone while fleeing a crime and kill them with your car that can also be felony murder. Usually I have no problems with the law used in that way. Criminals who reckless set in motion events so they can commit (or get away with) a violent crime should be held accountable for the consequences of their actions.
#1 Tensions where high because in the days before the crowd killed two cops and injured 6 of them . They also raped a few women . #2 They where all armed with machetes , spears and weapons from the assaulted cops . #3 The police is pretty agnostic to unions , a lot of the cops couldn't care less about another riot . Especially those in the SWAT teams . #4 If the OWS where all armed and involved in the assault they would be charged and it would be normal .
That video I posted earlier is a short clip with one view of the incident. Here's another angle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_2wy10nasg In this video, it appears to show some of them trying to get away. I'm not saying this is what happened, I have no idea. But, if they were surrounded, and being shot at from one side, it is possible the first video, while appearing to be them charging police, could actually be them trying to get away from police firing from behind them. Hope that makes sense, I've been up all night. Anyway, going to sleep...
Well i'm glad of that. I still don't believe it is right, moral or just to charge someone with an offense commited by the accusers. Separate charges should be laid on whoever killed the two police and a full investigation into the actions of police shooting dead 34 people should also be required.
Provisionally: 1. Provided or serving only for the time being. I guess it's possible they could get charged again.
They should be charged with the murder of policemen , their miner colleagues that they killed , the gang rape of the women and so on . They formed a crazed bloodthirsty mob that demanded a 300% raised and refused any cooperation . They should pay for the result of their own actions .
I agree, they should not demand a raise of their wages. They should be allowed into EU like Romanians, so they can become pick pockets, thieves, hookers, drug dealers and beggars so they can go back to their country and build palaces.
Or they should be Canadian failures living on retirement funds and keistering cocaine from Madrid to London
