Ask about Amazon cookie

Guys, many topics and many articles tell me that The Amazon cookie lifespan sucks. It's just 24 hours and if the visitor orders something after 24 hours from the time he click to the link, I still get nothing.
But I read in this link: http://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/help/operating - Section 7 Amazon wrote that

So which information is right? Or did I misunderstand anything? Please explain me more :( I'm just a newbie. Sorry if I make a duplicate topic, I can't find the answer.

If the customer adds the product to the basket, you get 90 days for them to buy and you will still receive the commission. If they click and don't add to basket then you have 24 hours.

The Amazon cookie is not actually as bad as people make out, and if you are smart you will use an amazon store script that takes advantage of the remote shopping cart. This means that the product is added to the amazon basket before they visit Amazon, so you get the 90 days straight away.

Good info. FreshDev. how can I incorporate a Amazon Store Script into my pre-existing WP Amazon site.. getting me the 90 day cookies instead of the 24 hour cookies?

Thanks a lot, this could make a world of difference.

@LemonTide .. the easiest way to integrate the cart is via wpzonbuilder. You can add posts inline and add the remote cart in a few clicks.

Thanks for your answer Fresh. I understand it now. What about other affiliate programs? Are they better?

If you want to use Wordpress then there are a lot of plugins around that will use the Amazon Remote Shopping cart. However - I don't recommend using blog software (i.e. wordpress) to build an Amazon store

I got a plugin from warriors forum that will extend that cookie to maximum with relative ease, so far I haven't gotten any purchases, but we'll see in 80+ days i guess

Hey sirjorgeofculver, what is the name of the plugin you got? I do not fully understand how this works. But Id love to take some time and learn.

So the plugin puts a shopping cart onto your site they have to use? Can I still refer the member directly to Amazon and get the 90 cookies? Please tell me a little more. Sorry guys, this is brand new stuff to me and im interested. Im not going to sit here and pretend I know something about this.

    -Al

    Update:
I am now reading up on how this works here. If you can give any additional details that is also appreciated.

Pretty crafty move, If I understand correctly - when they click your aff. link instead of planting a cookie, it Adds the item directly to their amazon cart.
I might give it a shot myself.

The topic you gave sounds great. But is it really helpful? what will happen if Amazon know that tool? I think they will have some rules about this.

Yes, please share your experience with this plugin.
Does Amazon allow to cloak your links in this fashion? or is it against Amazon Aff. TOS?

Its not quite as you describe.. here is the process:

    1) Customer visits your website
    2) They click "Add to Basket" on a product
    3) They continue browsing, adding more products etc.
    4) They click "checkout" on your website
    5) They are redirected to Amazon and the products are added to their basket on Amazon

So they need to do the checkout in order for the process to be complete. If they leave your website before checking out the products aren't added to the Amazon basket (but they will remain in the basket on your website if they come back to it).

I'm new to amazon affiliates and Ive posted product links of products I like on my social networking site ( where I have thousands of followers and I haven't made anything. Not even a penny. Ive been doing this all day long too. I'm almost feeling like taking surveys for pocket change at this point. I know this isn't a get rich over night kinda deal but is there really money to be made? Thanks !!

Amazon don't allow you to put affiliate links directly to Amazon on websites you don't own, so be careful.. it is in the TOS.

Who are your followers on your social networking sites? Make sure you build their trust and send them something relevant

There is of course money to be made on Amazon but it won't happen overnight.
