Hello, I dont really psot in this forum area and usually stick to the clickbank area. However, my real life has moved my hobbie of websites into my job and I have learned how to design and code html/css and some basic php and mysql for businesses. However one of my friends has a terrible real estate website and I would like to move him away from his custom 1990 bs CMS and onto Joomla. But I have one question, do I design it as I would a website or are there restrictions on the design that require too many hacks to be worth paying to be coded? (I have not worked with joomla up until a month ago so Im unable to code the templates and will pay someone) as a side question how much do template slicing and coding usually cost? html/css basic sites use to cost me $80+ for the coding which is why I learn to do it myself... Thank you for your time.
Doing a Joomla template is slightly different from coding an ordinary HTML/CSS site. You have to remember that this one template file, controls and sets up all of the pages on the site. If you do know html/css and basic php then you can learn how to make the transition. It will take some time though. I make my own Joomla templates and have been doing it for 2 years now. I remember when I first started, luckily the project was small and I had allot of time, and I had help too. Concerning how much it would cost. I normally charge around $90 to convert from PSD to Joomla. Going from HTML/CSS to Joomla I would charge in the region of $60. That should give you an idea. If you like I can do the template for you and also teach you how to do it on your own.
