Well that wont be possible. We dont have too many advertisers for intl traffic and we are stretching it to the limits to be frank with the payouts. I'm sure you would understand that after comparing with other hosts out there!

 

As the site owner seems to be in this thread, I have a few questions. I saw this and thought it too good to be true.

I just signed up but have not uploaded any videos yet.

I'd like to know how you are monetising this to be able to pay such high commissions? If it's pop up traffic, how are you getting those rates?

How long do videos have to be? I read somewhere on the site that they have to watch 30% of the video. Is there a limit on how long the video has to be. There must be because anyone can make a 3 second video and get everyone to watch 1/3rd of it. (not that I would do that).

Because you do accept adult content, would there be any adverse (seo) consequences to using this site (linking to it) for with more "wholesome" videos?

Are you planning on adding the ability to embed videos on our own sites?

I'd love to know more.

Hi dan.. thats a good question. Well we basically came up with a really brilliant business model that makes it possible.

What happens is inorder to watch a video the users need to install our video plugin. Once they do they can watch as many videos as they want. When distributing the plugin we bundle a toolbar and there is a optin for that when installing the plugin. We make money when the users optin to install the toolbar too along with out plugin. The toolbar is powered by google and we get paid for toolbar distribution and that is how we afford paying such high rates..... This is exactly how utorrent made over $20million last year and its a perfectly legit business model!

We dont have an issue accepting adult content because we make money distributing toolbars and not advertising on our own website.. those are 2 very different things. I hope you understand.

Next is 30% of video. Yes you are correct. You get paid when a user has watched 30% of the video. The minimum file size to qualify for rewards is 1mb. We have a lot of users making money uploading 10mb commercials and distributing links online ... Since its really easy to get views on those!

I hope you understand we make money from toolbar installs and not the advertising on the website so that is exactly why we are able to pay such high rates and accept all sorts of traffic! ... Also the toolbar is completely optin so there is nothing to worry about there. You can test that for yourself too if you want!

 

Sites like gorrillavid.com use the same model. Basically, you are able to make "keywords" on pages that allow parsing to become clickable links to your ads (as long as they have the toolbar active)... is this correct?

I understand now. So really, a 3 second video would not matter to you as long as the toolbar was installed?

The next question has to be, once someone has installed the toolbar, do I still get paid when they view my videos?

 

You can try uploading a small video for yourself and seeing how our thing works. I'm not really sure how gorilla video works. For us its compulsory to install our plugin inorder to view the videos on our website. I dont think that is true for gorilla video. I'm quite frankly not sure how they work.

You get paid for ALL views after the toolbar is installed. Yes it does not matter if its a 3second video or a 60min video.. all that matters is that it should be above 1mb to qualify for rewards

 

Gorrillavid.com is a popular link on sites like 1channel.ch and sidereel.com (sites where people upload illegal copies of TV programs so the cheap-skates and out of country fans can watch the show online for free). They require the toolbar to be installed in order to watch the video. Other sites like putlocker and sockshare do not require this. (they seem to be monetising though pop up traffic).

I'm sure that you have anticipated the problems with DMCA that you are going to face running such a site.

Anyway, this is by-the-by.

My personal plan to use your services would be "force" people to watch a short "how to use" video in order to gain access to a premium (very viral) software tool (which they will want to use repeatedly). The second time they use it, under your terms I could make them watch a (really short) high quality intro sequence before they gain access? And I will get paid again and again, every time they use it.

This plan would require me to be able to embed that video on my site or within the software app that they are using.

Would you have issues with that... is embedding coming?

 

the thing is we have not launched the embedding part yet. The plugin detection part is a bit tricky. Letting users embed videos would open a huge opportunity for fraud. We are still looking at ways on how to avoid that and allow embedding but we are not there "yet".

Our video page is really clean and as such it should work ok without embeds. We dont have any ads on our website and neither do we plan adding any so I think it can work.

As for the DMCA thing. We are completely DMCA compliant and we remove content that we get a DMCA complaint for like any other cloud hosting.

The system you are mentioning should work ok and there should not be any issues as such!

 

Of you do not allow embedding could I use an iframe? Would your webmaster be able to work things so that the iframe displaying the video on your site would be "as good as" embedding?

 

I dint know the answer to that so i did a quick experiment myself with an iframe to see if it would work... and it worked perfectly! .. So yah iframes would do the trick!

Do note though that the exe is branded with senseless.tv and so is the inside of the player when offering the exe. We did that to improve conversion rates of installs... on your website that might actually kill the conversion rates when using iframes. So you need to split test this.

Iframes would work ok... just split test to see what converts better so that you make the max money!

 

Doy you pay for every views on the videos or just for unique IP?

 

We count upto 3 views per IP every 24 hours.

No referral program! Sorry! We pass on all the profits to the uploader so offering an affiliate program is not really possible.

Yes the plugin works only in Firefox, IE and Chrome. Thats 98% of the traffic on our website. I dont think it should be a worry as such.
