They did not use Flippa.. means they just want to sell domain(maybe) but their last year revenue is $88 million.

Does that mean that they are going to change their domain? Or being taken by some other hosting companies?

Very interesting. I thought post #2 on this thread would put to rest the rumor or at least dispute it. What is the bigger story behind the domain going up for sale? Any industry chatter on this?
Why would they lose the domain after taking so long to build a name? There are some gaping holes to fill in on this one. Who has a nose into this latest affair?

How odd. Now the link that was in the OP's post is an error 404. Momentary issue or overall big error? I guess tomorrow and this thread will tell more.

Members on WebHostingTalk have talked with the BlueHost CEO and he has confirmed that it's a mistake and it's not for sale.

I think there is some mistake. They can't just sell the domain, complete business is attached to the domain and yes they made 88 million last year alone, why would they sell it?

Why? EIG has a $250 million dollar deficit from buying HostGator. A quick $100-150 million for Bluehost (which has gone terribly downhill, as all EIG hosts do) wouldn't be a bad way to make it up.

Personally I hope it is and the new owner makes major changes. I've used them before and was not a happy camper.

I was just about to say, EIG just took them over not to long ago. I doubt they would be so quick to put the company back on the market (unless they are hemorrhaging cash), which you never know, many of these big hosts are operating in the red (all smoke in mirrors). I read an interesting article awhile back about Godaddy and how they were pulling in hundreds of millions, yet only banking something around 20 million in profit.

Honestly, at this stage of the game, I doubt any company would be able to come in and make any significant changes for the better. Blue Host is a big company, I dont think anyone in the industry has figured out how to serve that type of volume while, maintaining a good/great level of service. Many of these companies came onto the scene with the intention of getting as many clients as possible, once they did, the owners started heading for the banks (to cash out), leaving the customer (holding the bag) so to speak. Its a shame really, but something that has been going on since the beginning of web hosting.

definitely a reason to sell and to all the ones talking about Bluehost going out of business - guys this won't happen. You don't buy a service for millions to shut it down right after your purchase. At least this is not very likely.

no way they are just selling the domain itself. if they were selling the business, they would sell it with all the hosting accounts with it to some other hosting company and would not list it on sedo. some kinda prank or system glitch by sedo i suppose
