FRIEND FLEET - Myspace Friend Adding Website $3600 July Revenue!

FriendFleet is a myspace friend adding website that allows users on myspace to obtain more friends in their profile. FriendFleet was the second site made of its kind, following the release of Friendstorm.net, however, we tried to make our website clean and simple to use. FriendFleet was launched at the beginning of July and experienced extreme traffic amounts that forced us to shut down within 6 minutes after we launched and upgrade our servers. The site ran until August, when we decided to create FriendFleet Lite, a newer, cleaner and quicker to use version of the site. The site makes money from people purchasing subscriptions which enables them to get more friends, however, the site is completely free to use. There is an admin panel that allows you to activate/deactivate subscriptions and it automatically sends out emails. The admin panel also lets you edit the text on the site as well as insert ads.

Revenue Details:
The first month started off great, and the site exploded bringing in over 200 subscription purchases. In August we had a rough month where the site was down alot due to server trouble and also upgrading to a newer version of friendfleet, so revenue was down to around $1000. In September and October, the site was turned over to a friend of mine who ran it for me while I was on vacation and revenue dropped significantly. My friend ran the site under his paypal account so I do not have August/September/October revenue stats, but I was told it was $1500+.

Traffic Details
The site basically promotes itself. I never paid for advertising. When a user signs into the site, it allows them to post bulletins on myspace; these bulletins promote the site and bring in more members. Traffic in the first month was over 60,000 unique visitors, with an average of 2,000 uniques per day, however in the first few days it was up to 8,000-10,000 uniques per day. I do not have those traffic stats since we switched servers since then. The traffic of the site has really dropped since then as I have taken on other things in life and begun to sell my websites. I don't have August traffic stats since the site switched servers several times. September and October traffic stats are accurate, but they do not represent the sites full potential as I have not done much with it.

What kind of hosting would it need? What's the bandwidth?

If the site promotes itself, why did the numbers drop when you took on other things? So you were doing stuff to promote it then? I guess I'm confused. When I read "The site basically promotes itself" I would expect it to run without much promoting from you. Basically if you had the time to devote to it, what would you do to promote it?

My friend is sending over the paypal stats for the past few months today, so I'll get back to you on that.

The site is currently hosted on a dedicated server, and it uses about 20gb/bandwidth a month. I pay about $169/month for the server.

The site does promote itself, but it needs a little jumpstart to do so. When you login to the site, you can earn points by getting referrals, and to get referrals you copy the bulletin code and post bulletins on myspace. I usually would do this for 5-10 minutes a day, and people would then come to the site, and start referring their friends, and they would refer their friends, and it was a continuous chain. Other ways to get the site's traffic up is to exchange links with the other large myspace resource sites (there are thousands of them).

 

You say on your website you can add up to 500 friends a day...but doesnt Myspace now have a catchpa in place that after 50 friends you have to type in letters and numbers??

 

Our site isn't a robot that automatically adds 500 friends. Users are adding friends manually. Myspace has always had a catpcha in place where after adding 5-10 people you enter a code, so that you can continue to add people.

Stats for November have dropped significantly since I have been unable to upkeep the site and do small daily promotion etc.

Why are the stats at 300 uniques and dropping?

 

I honestly have not kept up with the site since I let my friend run it for me in October and most of this month. Back when I ran it and kept it going strong, I would do tons of link trades, and I would always be posting myspace bulletins which brought in traffic and more users. Over 30,000 people have used our system to date.
