I am trying to actually find the best practices for SEO. There seems to be so many conflicting views and opinions on whats right and wrong. So here are my questions and I am hoping I can get a bit of a clearer view. Meta Titles - Is it better to have | (pipes) between keywords in the title i.e Example Location | Example2 Location2 | Company Name or XYZ provides example locations, where example2 location is a company name... Meta Keywords should they be like the following: word, word2, word3 or word,word2,word3 or word|word2|word3 Social Media and Blogging - does this really help with SEO? Buying links - I know this is more grey or black hat but there is still lots of companies offering this. appreciate peoples views so I can get a more rounded idea.
You don't want to over optimize your title, ya know? "Word1 | Word2" is my favorite human appeal. Many people believe that Google's update now focuses on Social Media and it's always important to have quality backlinks, so yes.
for meta title, keep it less than 70 characters. use your primary keyword once and secondaty keywrod once to form and effective title. you can use pipe in between which should not be an issue. regarding meta keyword, google doesn't even read them or consider them anymore as they can be manipulated so easily so it doesn't matter you use the meta keyword at all or not. other search engines however do read them so if you decide to use meta keyword tag, do not stuff it with too many keywords in there. just use your primary keywords and a few secondary keywords. 5-7 keywords in meta keyword tag should be enough. use in this use comma in between keywords and it doesn't matter you put space after comma or not
Well cocoonfx forget about silly thoughts like what to place in META or whatever, Just make the site useful and interesting for users, that all you need. What about SEO techniques - get best links you can from best sites you can in your niche and make it look legitimate.
you suggest making a site interesting to user, yet advice on forgetting the meta tags optimization. if the meta title and description are not properly optimized, your users will not be interested in clicking you site when they show up on search results. what you place on meta title and description is what making your prospective visitors interested in clicking the link to pay a visit as thats how Google index your site. aside from that, meta title and description are important elements of search engine algorithm so no one can afford not to optimize those tags.
Well mate, if you read his question he was asking what type of lines to put in the META. I saw sites have "domain.com" in the title and its just enough for them to rank first in Google. So for SEO reasons I wouldn't concentrate on it, I remember the time when I was wasting tons of time on that silly things. I do write quality titles and meta now too, but it is not that important in nowadays. Simple Title is enough, don't need to go META for Google to see what you have there.
There are many areas one needs to work on during the SEO. The best practices have to be sticking to the white hat tools and tricks. Content is king and no matter how significant your SEO efforts might be unless the information is not worth the repeat traffic chances are it will not be ranked higher.
you can use any format for keywords and yes social media is one of the most important factor of SEO and buying links will only bring trouble to you ...
Prove please. 1. You don't have to use meta keywords at all, Google don't look at it at all. 2. Social media can bring you only traffic and a spider, no much weigh you'll get from it. 3. Buying links most important factor of SEO, if your site is not everyone talks about.
Just make a title tag of under 70 characters or less and be sure that you are using your company name in the home page title tag, don't do keyword stuffing like, Buy Furniture, Online Furniture, Best Furniture, Don't do it at all. Use your primary keyword, secondary keyword, as well as.
Agree completely. My three sites fell from grace precipitously after a dark alley encounter with a Panda and a Penguin all because of a little over-optimization on my part. Despite fixing many pages still in page 10 to 20 from page 1.
Thanks for the tip. Can you please give an example of a good title tag by extending the Furniture analogy.
Its better if you use meta title as simple and for the keyword tag, yes use meta keywords. It is true that google does not paying any omportance at meta keyword tag but other search engine they give importance. So its better if you have meta tag.
