I have seen a lot of members on DP. I also have pay very much attention on many reputable members on DP, starcallers above, and the ones that have donate their money to this beloved forum development. But lately someone - my website buyer, asked me, in Digitalpoint, who do you think has the weirdest avatar? and who has the most beautiful or cool, instead? I was like: duh! I do not have any thought of this, his question shut me off in seconds LOL. So I would like to ask you beloved DP members, Who do you think? 1. weirdest avatar 2. coolest avatar Thanks for the feedbacks!
I learned your post and i search who have weirdest avatar in this forum but i found only funny avatars.. lol coolest avatar = ? hmmm maybe me..
I do get a lot of comments about mine... I say.. I say... Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing... Lookit here son, I say son, did ya see that hawk after those hens? He scared 'em! That Rhode Island Red turned white.... then blue. Rhode Island. Red, white, and blue. That's a joke, son. A flag waver. You're built too low. The fast ones go over your head. Ya got a hole in your glove. I keep pitchin' 'em and you keep missin' 'em. Ya gotta keep your eye on the ball. Eye. Ball. I almost had a gag, son. Joke, that is. Of course I am just a big giant cock, proud of it too! That's a joke son...
Old Foggy was BOSS. Watching it as a kid, I think a lot of what he said went straight over my head. But I gotta say, some of these lines are just pure wit: "That dog's as subtle as a hand grenade in a barrel of oatmeal." "That boy's like a tattoo..gets under your skin." "That woman’s as cold as a nudist on an iceberg" "Nice mannered kid, just a little on the dumb side" "Kid don’t quit talkin’ so much he’ll get his tongue sunburned"
I think he was the first character I ever saw break the fourth wall and do multiple asides. Hell, he's probably a contributing factor to why I think HTML 5's "ASIDE" tag is idiotic crap. If you use it to say something is 'off to one side' like a column in a layout, what makes that any less presentational than CENTER? The only meaning of the word that makes sense is a literary aside -- and those are so rare on websites why do we need this tag exactly? Of course, the character was based on the boss of all bosses, W.C. Fields. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwyRquXjSio Love that one 'cause it's also got George, Gracie, and even Bela. Watch close, and you'll even see a really young Rose-Marie (of Dick Van Dyke show fame). -- edit -- or not, bah, that copy's incomplete.
"Kansas city is lost, I am here!" Maybe I am behind the 8-ball here, but I have not even adopted HTML 5 at all. I hope I am not missing out on anything...
Hey sniper2008, I was just referring to the character in deathshadow's avatar- Foghorn Leghorn. Did you ever see the cartoon? It would of been shown on TV in the 90's (at least for me and where I live) or even earlier.
Oh I see, thanks for the explanation mate +1 repo for you I did not ever see the cartoon, I live in Indonesia, mate. Or maybe it had been shown on TV at 90's but lol I was still a baby at that time.
Alright, lemme 'splain Lucy. (wait, I might have to 'splain that one too).. though funny you saying 90's.. sure it was probably in syndication still (heck, it's still shown today) but the cartoons in question are from the 1940's and 50's. Foghorn leghorn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMYDG9CphkM Breaking the fourth wall -- when a character in a play, movie or show turns to the audience and starts talking to them. It's generally considered faux pas, however because of that it's become a powerful literary device. Aside -- when a character breaks the fourth wall and performs a monologue explaining the situation to the audience. See Ferris Beuller's Day off for perfect examples of this... or in the video above at 2:28, where he turns to face us and says "This boys making more noise than a couple of skeletons on a tin roof". That's an aside... and the only sense in which HTML 5's 'aside' tag would make any semantic sense... otherwise, it's presentational and has no business in the markup. Well, actually, it's not the ONLY sense, since there's parenthetical asides, but those would have to be inline-level. I was just pointing it out since Foggy does asides a LOT -- it's a great example of what an aside is SUPPOSED to be. WhatTFWG seems to think it is ... well, they seem to be using the verb form, which makes no sense in a declarative language.
Me, my avatar is so weird and strange that you have you have to have a special type of web browser to see it
Hmm, I am still perplexed as to when to actually use HTML5s <aside> tag. After reading up on it on a few sites, it just seems to me to be surplus to requirements. Nothing that a <div> tag or <blockquote> would easily achieve and no tangible advantages/benefits over the 'old' tags for me to even consider switching. Like deathshadow said, the tag doesn't even mean what it's supposed to mean. For it to even slightly resemble what it's supposed to mean, it could only realistically be some sort of CSS effect- which is for presentation only and has no place in HTML.
lol, I think I have recognized Foghorn Leghorn! Thanks for your avatar then, + repo for that too hahaha lol this one is cool. your avatar is so weird and the coolest one, please let us know which type of browser, a special one, that we have to use to see your awesome avatar?
