@robjones - what boblord666 said is truly the attitude of most here. We feel safer without guns. Fear of the neighbours has not hit here yet.
I'm sure there are those here that have fear. Frankly i don't need to. That's kinda the point. Having accepted responsibility for my own welfare and obtained the tools to ensure it against any threat that might present, unlike whose defense is luck and hope... I *know* I'm safe. Unless your crime rate is actually zero, then basically you are depending on chance. If targeted you'd be depending on the goodwill of the perpetrator. Your call I guess. Hope your luck is good. Truly.
It's ironic that four of the dudes here defending their right to use firearms to protect themselves, their homes and their families from anyone wishing to illegally enter their home and steal from them, are on the Israel/Palestine threads...denying Palestinians the same right that they hold so dear for themselves. LOL!
What's funny is keyboard activists that argue on behalf of it though they could really care less about Palestine... They just seize on it as a cause celebre and rattle on as if they knew something about it.
A sound way to handle Trolls trying to bring an argument from one thread into an unrelated thread. If you agreed with me i might rethink it tho.
You mean that you are inconsitent and will change your arguments from one thread to another to suit your agenda, I got it.
Today I got a yobbo doing fishtails on my street I stood in the middle of the road (as I was washing my car), he had to stop, where we got into an argument and he got my point. I would not have done that if I thought he might have a gun. In-a-way (as per my example), easy gun carry laws actually holds you back from speaking your mind. I agree with gworld's point earlier, we need to be more concerned with what the governments doing in our name as that's the biggest danger. Crims mainly keep to themselves, are a family member or are found down some dark alley at 2am. I don't see them being a real problem for me.
I don't believe in people owning guns. I'm still a resident of Japan to this day and not even one police carries one gun in the street.
Troll away Gworld... Nobody cares. Bush- what government does is an entirely unrelated to self defense. If you or others are happy depending on protection from the sheer probability you will never be the target of crime, thats fine with me. Maybe it'll work. In my case it is just a matter of having the tools to protect loved ones and property IF EVER need be. If the need never arises, no big deal. Simple Logic: Better to be ready and not need it than need it and not be ready.
That is true also. In the Philippines I own a couple of firearms. Even if its my country you never know.
Translation of rob post: I have nothing to say because it is obvious to everyone how stupid my excuses are. We get it. You are a scared little pussy that can not feel safe until you have a gun. Anything more you want to add?
That sounds accurate in a nation the size of America with a population smaller than that of California and an ethnic makeup closer to Switzerland than that of America. It makes comparisons between the US and Australia very difficult. You would be surprised. Just yesterday some woman was trying to squeeze a left turn through opposing traffic which I was sitting in, which was basically stopped. I made sure I stopped short and left her enough room to squeeze through, as did the lane to the right of me, but the guy in the last lane, as he saw her squeezing though the first two lanes, decided to scootch his car up to fill the 8' gap and leave no room for her to get all the way across. She was stuck there perpendicular to opposing traffic because some ass decided he wouldn't let her through even though he had no place to go. My wife, and female passengers from three other cars were literally screaming out the window at the guy calling him an asshole. I thought it might turn into a female beat down of the poor bastard. Whether or not the guy had a gun in the vehicle was not a concern and certainly not an inhibition to expressing opinion. Besides, you get into an altercation with a motorist, you are as likely to die from a tire iron to the side of the head as you are from a gunshot.
Understood Popo. I'm on acreage and have livestock and pets, so it'd be irresponsible of me to neglect to be prepared for any situtational crises. Not all predators will be of the two-legged variety, and it doesnt hurt a soul for me to have the means to protect whatever might need protecting. Never have figured out why that makes girls like gworld get their panties in a twist. Lol.
It's been said. Safety is directly relevant to the ethnic makeup of those around you. The old South African white boys who were "Born with a gun in their hand" can be compared with the Texas Good Ole Boys.
LOL. Thanks Bob. Us "Texas Good Ole Boys" love it when folks afraid of those scary old guns don't like us.
I do keep explaining - it's not the guns. After all guns don't kill people gunowners kill people. And the morons who can easily get their hands on a gun in America kill more than most.
No, here's how it works: Guns don't kill people... bullets kill people. Guns just get the bullets going really really fast.
Well I'm not sure how applicable that is since 50% of the homicides in the US are black males killing other black males, but I'll stand by my statement that multi-racial societies deal with a different set of problems than homogeneous societies like Australia.
Ah of course, it's skin colour that makes people shoot guns - good stuff. Now with multi-racial, how many generations does a person have to be able to trace their ancestry back before they are described as American, rather than Mexican American, Chinese American etc.
