I'm interested in acquiring a couple of online game sites (sites where people go to play online games)? Has anyone had success with these as far as generating revenues from them? These site seem to attract a lot of traffic, but do people click on the ads?
I couldn't agree more with Thermit statements, you need traffic but it'll cost you bandwith and money for sure. here's another fresh thread you might interests to look http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=179899
I'm running a gaming blog that generally earns enough on a daily basis to cover the monthly hosting fee. I would much rather host content about games than flash games or movies.
My Wii blog has averaged in the neighborhood of $50 per day in Adsense alone. So yes, there is money to be made, but requires a lot of traffic.
You get very low $ clicks, but if you get enough clicks from enough traffic it can cover hosting and then some...
i got about $15 in a month with not that much traffic and no paid advertisement, 1200 uniques i think. i know its against google adsense TOS, but if you trick viewers to make them think the ad is part of the content, the CTR increases by like 200%, i tried this for about 3 days before i removed it because i dont want to take the risk. You can view an example on http://www.play2kill.com/ , check the top 2 sections, you need to take a closer look to realise that isnt in fact a game...
Wow, insurance ads on an Arcade site. Besides, I didn't think Adsense allowed the placement of their ads on Arcade sites?
if you have high visitors , somebody will allways click your adsense but i think you must help google to show the best ads. you can write short sentences about your games
I personally would prefer gaming content than arcade games. I can imagine someof the more popukar gaming content sites/blogs getting huge amount of traffic with all those new platforms coming out.
definatly, but man i bet it works, i own my own arcade site and know quite a lot about advertisement, and even I clicked it (it had some sort of gamish title tho)
Thanks to everyone for your input! I was thinking of integrating a gaming module to my web directory, www.lavaseek.com, so much of the traffic would come from visitors to the directory.
weblaunch, I have been tweaking keywords the last couple of weeks and have seemed to run across a pretty good combination - take a look at the site in my sig - was getting around 30 clicks a day and just making "A Buck" if I was lucky - today - three clicks and a 1.36 - so maybe the tweeking has paid off - we will see in another week or so - Also I found that if you are doing banner exchanges with other sites - it's best to change them out once a month if you are allowed to - to prevent ad/banner blindness - Good Luck! Happy Thanksgiving!
Just an FYI - it looks like your arcade site might be out of compliance with adsense, since you have an image right next to an ad without a visible border. Gobble, gobble...
