    A designer must have knowledge of the on page SEO basics, such as H1,H2, H3 tags, Alt tags and how Google or other search engine crawl the links.

    It is nothing new. The most designers rather know the basic of SEO and try to design their websites in such a way to get higher PR.

    The way I see it, great web design begets SEO. Great SEO doesn't necessarily mean great web design.... So make a great website, and learn some fundamentals of SEO. But don't get lost in Search Engine Optimizing your site; design and code are more important imo

    I can't understand why Web Design should know about SEO? Web Design have to make simple to use and comfortable website for visitors! After that when website is done, a Seo expert decides wich titels put to website and what text need to write for website. Web designer need to do interesting website maybe it is a little marketing. This is my opinion.

    SEO is not about marketing but optimizing website in such a way that it is more searchable and seen by visitors. So every web designer is able to do that very easy. You must know some techniques only. It is not difficult.
