    Hi,

I am about to lunch my very first site :)

Right now I'm looking for advanced website traffic/stat tool.

goggling, I have found too many of them and need a RECOMMENDATION for both FREE and COMMERCIAL program.

Also, since I have never used one before please tell me what problems may I have with them? Any disadvantages of free tools? ads/spams etc.?

So far I've been recommended http://extremetracking.com/ - any opinions?

    thank you in advance

with free tools, you have to leave a visible link to the site on your site.

I have used extreme tracking it is pretty good. It is as accurate as anything else.

If you want an invisible one that is still free you can use google anylitics. Its good and its still free!

    great, thx

have you used free or commercial version of extreme tracking?

as for google analytics I have to say that I dont necessary like the fact that google is collecting all this data from us, so this would be my last choice

    thanks again

    anybody else?

I use statcounter It's a free invisible counter been using it for a few months seem to work great. The free version will log the first 100 visitors but it will still keep a running total of all the visitors. It's worth checking into.

Second GBDPro's comment - I use statcounter as an addition to log analyzers (awstats)

If you want a really good free stats package, go with Statcounbter. However, you will need to pay a fee for extra otions. It is highly recommended though.

For a free one I recommend http://www.activemeter.com You do not have to add a visible counter to your site.

For a trendy commercial one, check out the 'Visitorville' link in my sig.

I'm happy with http://www.statcounter.com/ . I use it to track several different web sites. The log limit of 100 entries is fine for me. If I ever need a log size larger than 100 I figure I'll be making enough money to upgrade. (hopefully! hehe)

I use activemeter and awstats. Active meters free version claims to only allow 200,000 impressions a month but I've passed that a while ago so I'm happy with it.

I use Google Analytics. It is excelent tool and they are still improving. Only one problem that is impossible to show stat straight on your pages. There are some unofficial API for that but not very good.

Google Analytics... I've used almost all the free stuff... Webalizer, AwStats, etc... Google Analytics, which is basically Urchin in a highly improved version, can track just about anything... It has given me such insight as to what my users do, where the go, what kinda connections they have, where in the world they are... Aside from WebTrends which I hear is still top dawg Google ranks #2, give it a few more months of good development and WebTrends will be a thing of the past...
