Re-directed Traffic. Is it good?

I don't want to use anymore traffic via pop-up/under (personal experience, does not convert to sales and plus, it makes your website look bad) but the re-directed traffic from exp. domains or other looks attractive. I will like to give it a try for a gambling (poker) website but 1st I want some 3rd party opinon on that...

Has anyone had experience using this? And if yes, who was the source?

If you're not cloaking your websites then it must be fine. Otherwise don't do it. ;)

I am not doing any cloaking... I don't see any good coming from doing that. Either way I'll give it a try with TrafficPortal.org for 5000 UK 24hr Unigue Redirected Visitors and see if there are any good results.

    I'll post my findings here.

I have purchased a few expired hosting domains and the traffic isn't too bad for the price. Not sure if it has converted to sales though, I have not tracked it.

Dying to know if this works.
The holy grail for a new site it would seem.

any similar sites out there that are considered "reputable"?

    Thanks

Personally I would avoid any kind of "traffic purchase" in general
Thats not to say that some of ther services might be genuine - however most of the time the traffic will be of extremely poor value

Its always a good idea to look at these traffic providers the other way round
We all know that lots of high quality traffic will convert to sales - YES - so why would someone with lots of traffic want to give it all a way or sell it to someone else - wouldnt they just use it for their own sites and create lots of sales for their own products?

So the chances are then that it might not be quite the golden egg you might think

My advice is - lets look at what you are REALLY looking for
    Traffic - Am I right?
All of us need good quality traffic - but how do you get it

The answer in my book is simple
    Build your own email list

Let me be clear here - I dont mean buying "leads" or any anything similar
I mean having pages on your site where you offer a free product, PDF etc, but people can only download it if they enter their name email and join your email list or ezine - what is known as permission based marketing

You can then send these people one message a week where you put links back to your site in the message

From my own experience I can tell you without any doubt, that traffic from your email list is very effective and you dont need a huge list to turn your subscribers into buyers

Hope that helps to get you away from pointless guaranteed visitors!

I agree building a list is important...but I thought the "magic" list was used more when you had an actual product to sell, while a lot of guys are just looking for traffic that will simply click on ads...whether it's on purpose or by accident.

If they are just looking for eyeballs to their site then buying semi targeted-targeted traffic could be all they need.

Just my 2 cents...probably not worth that

Ok so here is the update:
I signed up for the redirected traffic from TrafficPortal.org (www.trafficportal.org/index.php) this morning, sent the payment ($25 for 5000 visitors) via Paypal and nothing happen. I sent an email to support about 30min ago and got a reply that the campaign will start in about 4 hrs.

    Here are the details:

Service: UK 24hr Unigue Redirected Visitors NO POPUPS ALLOWED
    Target: Games
    Title: MuchPokerUK
    URL: http://www.muchpoker.com
    Quantity: 0 of 5,000 Total 0 of 5,000 Unique
    Hourly Cap: 100
    Weight: 10
    Status: Active
    Start Date -----
    End Date -----
    Duration: Not Yet Available

So I'll wait see how it goes and I'll post some stats once the campaign starts. So, so far the service is not so great... but hey for that price I'll be surprice of something better.

And a small comment: When we are talking about gambling/adult websites this king of traffic looks profitable since the traffic is targeted and visitors will see you page unlike pop-up/under traffic where visitor or browsers will close the window before even loading.

LOL 25% means that for 5000 I'll get 1250 convertions... this is close to science-fiction but I wish you're right. I heard is at its best 10% but I am expecting 1%, which is not bad; for 5000 that's 50 convertions... and if I get that much I'll be more than happy... then the $25 will be worth it.

    i quess time will tell...

Well for 25$, you can also reg 3 expired domains with a little traffic, that will feed your site for 1 year. Just make sure the traffic is relevant to your niche.

Yeah, just make sure the traffic is relevant to your niche to get the best possible conversion rate from it. If the traffic is not relevant it would just add up to the site's stats and eat up it's bandwidth.

So this is what TrafficPortal.org sent me so far:

Service: UK 24hr Unigue Redirected Visitors NO POPUPS ALLOWED
    Target: Games
    Title: MuchPokerUK
    URL: http://www.muchpoker.com
    Quantity: 860 of 5,000 Total 854 of 5,000 Unique
    Hourly Cap: 100
    Weight: 10
    Status: Active
Start Date: Wed Nov 22 22:45:00 CST 2006
    End Date: -----
    Duration: 3 Days 14 Hours 34 Minutes 18 Seconds

And here is what my stats are showing:

As you see, from 860 visits that TrafficPortal.org sent me, only 646 waited for the page to load (75.11%) which is expected since when you land on a webpage that you were not looking for your tendancy is to leave right you away; and as you see 99.69% of them did exactly that. Only 2 person see 2 pages and only 1 visit actualy register. That's a 0.15% success rate.

Analysis: So far, with this result rate, I expect 7.5 visitors to register by the end of the campaign. You can say that this is bad but that depends on how much is worth one register visitor. For exemple if you sell a product for 1$ea. it means that you'll probably get 7.5$ out of a 25$ campaign; a negative result. But if, as in my case, each register visitor is worth an average 50$/month, that's a 350$ profit for a 25$ campaign: instant success.

But... In the online gambling business we deal with 2 step sale process: registration & real money deposit; so after those 7.5 visitors register they will have to deposit real money.... but even then, with only one deposited player i will get my money back therefore In my case this should be a success campaign if at least one player deposits real money.

As it was said before if you're targeting your visits and if 0.15% lead to sales worth more than the campaign costs then you're looking at a very good campaign.

I'll post more results in a couple of days...

It’s always a little surprising to me the amount of Auto surfs popping up all over, does anyone really sit watching? I think not.
I can’t really see the benefit that this gives to sites.
    Targeted traffic might be different.
I will be Very interested in seeing your results.

still there? i've contemplated purchashing supposed "targeted" traffic as well, and i'm interested to see if you ended up getting the any of your total registered people to convert..

All, stay away from TrafficPortal.org - I used to be a reseller of this traffic service/provider. The owner/operator of this orgainization (you know who you are, Henry!) took $800 of my money for advertising, of which he never provided for me, or my client. Oh, they made plenty of promises to refund the money but all fell flat. I cant tell you how many times this company would tell me the "check is in the mail" and yet, to this day, not one cent has been paid back. He has spent the last year trying to hide from me... changing webhosts, company names, traffic servers and developing new, fraudulent paypal accounts.

If anyone needs any inside details on this organization, please do feel free to PM me. If you have been burned by this organization in the past, contact me as well. I have been gathering information for the past year on these people to aid in my pending lawsuit. I would very much be interested to hear of experiences from others who have had a bad experience with this company.

    Thank you
