Best link-building strategy after penguin update

Anchor text is the biggest factor, also the sources of links. be as diverse as possible - stay off googles radar and you will see your serps slowly rise, but they will stick!

 

Ok, sounds good. But is blog commenting even a good strategy to use when trying to get higher rankings? I use Google operators to find relevant blogs and articles to comment on. It works pretty good, but are there any other ways of finding relevant blogs and articles to leave comments on? I've been using www.dropmylink.com but I think it's better to just use Google operators. Thoughts/comments?

Quality is even much more important than quantity now. Notice that sites with many thousands of links have been penalized?

I have seen sites with only a few dozen inbound links ranking far higher than sites with many thousands, because the links were more relevant, fresh, and reputable.

Quality and relevance are essential.

 

I would love to see an example of that.
