how do you get a website indexed?

My site has a lot of good content, it is still in the making, and will have even more good content when done (lots of articles, and it isn't even an adsense site or anything).

I started a couple weeks ago and will finish within a month.

Is there any way to get google to index all the pages right away, or is that a stupid newbie question.

Because I'll have hundreds of pages at the end of this, and google has indexed one page, so how do you get them to index more? Is it just by boosting pr and then they automatically spider more or how does it work? What would you recommend?

site is http://www.lucidly.com by the way

You've executed the only way to get indexed yourself with that sentence.

Get links.

Search Engines are democratic, more or less. Links are votes. If you don;t get any votes for your sites from others, the search engines will assume your site is crap and not worthy of being in their index. Get many votes, especially from sites who know a lot about the topic of your site and you will be voted to the top. The more votes the better.

So because links turn into higher pagerank, transitively the higer pr the more pages indexed? Or does google automatically index your whole site once you hit a certain level? Or does it gradually increase?

PR has little to do with it, I recommend you forget about it at least for the first 18 months. PR has some influence on how often the spiders will visit you but it's still more down to the number of links. Get link regardless of PR.

Get them to your homepage or subsections initially and make sure internally you have good SE friendly navigation to the deeper pages (Sitemap helps). That will help Google et al find more links they will crawl.

There's no magic treshold so all you should worry about is consistently getting good links. And whilst on that topic, make sure you get good anchor text on those links because it will determine to a great extent what keywords you will rank for.

Some phrases to study: "Link Bait", "Link Building", "Directory Submission"

i started a website and within 3 to 4 days i got starting my pages indexed in google. within a week my 5 pages out of 9 were indexed.

What i did....

1. Optimize my website Search engin friendly
2. Add url to google
3. Submit my sitemap to google
4. Submit my website link to high PR directories(3 or 4 i think)
5. And add a signature in every forum site in which i am registered.
6. Updating daily by ading new content to my site.

And waiting for a PR update,,,,,,,

Lucidly, keep your website content original but try to get some articles made which you can submit around the internet as free distribution content. Such articles/article submission systems usually have a footer in which you can say: blah blah blah, for more articles on sites main keyword/phrase visit my website. Some good solid anchor text will help you rank better for the words you are targetting on your website.
