I have 3 websites and am wondering whether a single-processor with (Quad Core) and 4gb ram will be sufficient.

There are 3 website around 5000 visit a day. Over 60000 register users and around 400 products x on each websites.

    Any suggestions?

Here is what I recommend for you:
    . Intel E3-1270 Quad Core
. 8 GB Ram - May want to expand to 12 GB as your sites grow.
. 1 TB HDD for space growth
    . cPanel/WHM for usability
    . CentOS 5.8

You need to find out how much CPU, and RAM you are utilizing to answer this question. You can use TOP, or the FREE command in the bash shell to check this usage.

A VPS is much more flexible solution than a dedicated server because you can easily upgrade/downgrade your VPS at anytime as needed.

Would like to make a point here. Looking at the number of users and products on the website, a Quad Core processor, 8GB RAM with SAS drives should good to go with.

    Absolutely correct.

Only if you're running linux, but your point is well made.

All the others are just guesses.....and they always will be. It depends on the software you're running, and the resources it consumes when running with that number of visitors. In most cases all you can do is start off with your original spec and be prepared to upgrade the RAM or other hardware if it starts to struggle. It's not very scientific, but it's probably the only real option available to you.

You can refer "i3-2120" with the 4GB RAM and 500 GB SATA HDD with Dell PowerEdge server type, its stable and good quality server.

    "i3-2120"
    4GB RAM
    500 GB SATA HDD
    cPanel contrl panel.
    CentOS 6.* with 64 bit

Single processor with Quad core would be enough, but you should go for atleast 8GB of RAM if you are willing to use cPanel.
