Advice on directory submission

    Can anyone offer an advice on directory submissions? Are they effective anymore post Panda Penguin era? Do we just write articles instead..?

    If you're going to compare both, I'll stick to article. but directory is still a back link, you sould know how to choose carefully, pick those high authority and old dir sites and throw all those new and have the same ip site.. it's useless it will only consume your effort and time.

    Yes panda and penguin has no such effect on quality and standard web directories, they are still going well.
    The one which you are talking about and most people around are the directories which gets open today, collects spammy every kind of junk links and then gets close after a month or two, owners of such web directories dont give a wink about looking to the qulaity of sites which are being submited and neither review it.
    I dont know if why they open such directories...

    Directory submission is still for back link. Panda & Penguin require quality submission.

    sameer_max, thanks for the link and for you post on the other thread.

    The main thing I have to add is that a wide variety of backlinks never hurts, and definitely prefer manually submitted links over bots.

    Directories submission is a best way to increase website traffic and ranking of the website. you can increase speed of your directories submission by using different forum filling tool such as Robo Rorum.

    Panda Penguin does not affect directory submission. So you better go for directory submission. Article submission has their own importance which you can do in addition

    @benderbot.., absolutely.. adding to this point, doing Directory submissions manually and rotating the anchor text and also submit only to indexed web directories provides you with quality backlinks too.

    First of all i would like to say that penguin and panda updates has not been made to abolish any practices which have been applied to bring a website ranking. Directory submission is a good help but it always depends. Most of the High page rank directories are paid which are of higher usage and advantage. Normal directories with less or no page rank will give us only back link but not traffic whereas high page rank directory will give you both traffic as well as back link. Thus you can do directory submission but try to do it on good PR sites. Daily 20 submissions will be enough when it comes to directory submission.

    If you do all things manually and do legally so you will not get any penalty from Google.

    Directory submission are best way for link building if we care about following few points.

    1- Always select those category which is related to your site.
    2- Select those site which is not a spammy site.
    3- Select those site who give dofollow links.

    directory and article submissions are two different things directory submission is used only to get more and more back links and article content is used to get more and qualified traffic on your site and Panda penguin so you can do both submission.
