Hi guys Since Google is changing so much, I wanted to find out if theres anyone out there who has done all the SEO and ad placements properly, receive a consistent amount of monthly income from adsense then just leave it and watch the money roll in. Eg month 1 - $200 month 2 - $200 month 3 - $200 and so on...... Or have you always had to make modifications like get more links, more content and so on.
it all depends. I have some old sites that I have not touch for a year making more money than ever before. And I have sites that I keep updating and the earnings keep declining.
if you have just started out the chances of you making a site uplaoding it and letting the money "roll in" are over... you need to do a lot of work every moneht to maximise earnings...
If you're not constantly making more with your sites every month, you're not doing something right. The older your site becomes, the more links it gets, the higher number of pages is indexed by search engines, the more people locate your site, the higher your traffic climbs, the more you make. If you're only consistently getting $200/month forever, you are wasting away the potential of your site.
This is not true. You will from time to time see your earnings drop below the previous month, even if you are constantly working on your sites. There are many factors that go into determining your traffic. At this time of the year, the best example is seasonal fluctuations. In the colder months, people start to sit at their computers more often, and therefore you should (not a guarantee) see an increase in traffic (and therefore CTR and earnings). After the winter is over, even though you have been updating and adding to your sites, the decrease in internet users due to the warmer weather will impact your earnings. Remember that this is just one example. You wont always have an increase from month to month, but dont worry about it. Just keep plugging away at it, and eventually your averages will increase, and increase and increase. If you fall down one month, be encouraged that next month it will pick up. Patience is a virtue, and ever so more important with AdSense.
fluctuations must be there, but still if you work hard anytime or occasions you can make good money and an increase as well, personally I improved my adsense earnings from January till now an increase of 25% every month, because of my hard work and found some good traffic resources consistently and the clicks comes on and the earnings as well...
I agree that in general there should be an increase - on the other hand, one slow month doesn't mean there is a problem yet.
I have had a fairly steady income, although I have only been going for just over 2 months. I find weekends bring a drop in clicks.
No, I no longer do. At one time I could count on receiving a steady and significant amount of AdSense revenue, but this month will likely turn out to be my poorest performing month of all time. I have been an AdSense user since October 2003, so this is somewhat painful news for me.
I think the aim of everyone is to see a consistent increase rather than a consistent figure every month as it would signify progress.
Hi Guys, Sorry, I might have worded the question incorrectly. The main point I was trying to make is this: Has anyone, mainly the pros, found that Adsense is a true source of passive income. Im guessing thats why a lot of people are doing it. It is still a business at the end of the day. But has anyone gotten to the point where they only have to spend maybe a couple of hours a week keeping an eye on traffic, emails, the little things, and still receive consistent money and maybe more as time goes by. If it hasn't happened, it will give a better indication for a lot of people not to just rely on adsense but to also have a backup plan like affliates.
your website can naturaly grow, people will link to you, will talk about you, but the content is king
The question would be: When do you stop working on trying to increase revenue? Right now I make about twice as much each month through adsense than the average person where I live. In theory I could probably stop working on websites and not have to work. However my goal isn't to just be average, so I'm working on creating new content all the time. I recently sold my house, quite my job, and moved from the U.S. to Mexico because of the lower cost of living and the idea that my existing adsense revenue would pay most of my normal expenses. I've got a cheap cable modem and I spend a good portion of each day working on developing my internet content business. Someday I may put up a post about what I'm doing and how it is working out if people are interested. But to answer your questions, yes Adsense can be a good source of passive income. Getting good original content is the most difficult problem. If someone can come up with 50,000 pages of high quality original content on a topic that can be marketed online, they can make a significant amount of money off of Adsense. A professor at MIT had some old photography message boards that he put Adsense on and he brings in about $20,000 per year. These are old messages that he isn't going to do anything to update--they are just archives, but they are good content. (http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/philg/2005/10/28/content-is-back-thanks-to-google-ads/) Correction: The articles the professor posted were the contents of forums he had hosted for other people in the past. They were on random topics--not just photography.
Sure. I have about 30 or so sites that I never update (they were all created with redundant content in the space of 10 minutes or so, and then never touch again) making about $2/day each. They would probably make more if I update them once a while with new content, but they were never meant to be updated. At $2/day and $3.95/month hosting for each site, they are easily profitable and would qualify as passive income.
my monthly amount is increasing rapidly from month to month even I'm doing only minor changes on my ads
Earnings for me tend to drop a little after a few months. So when I remember I throw in a couple of fresh pages and update some old ones with more content. Moving a few ad placements also helps.
I am fairly "hands off" when it comes to one of my sites, but fairly aggressive with updating two other sites. Come January 2007 I will explore what I need to do regarding Google AdSense and that is likely to involve adding fresh and relevant content across each of my sites.
You should still be optimizing then (or start optimizing). I only started optimizing when I had had adsense on my website for some four months or something and that was a mistake: I could have made more earlier if I'd started optimizing in the first month.
