How to create a blog of various topics ?

    Hello, I need to create a blog blog of various topics ( finance, tech, politics, etc ).
    What is the best way to do that:
    - Create a subdomain for each topics ( finance.example.com, tech.example.com, politics.example.com ).
    - Create a folder for each topics ( example.com/finance/, example.com/tech/, example.com/politics/ ).
    - it is indifferent.

    of course I would like to avoid creating a subdomain for each topics, but if it is advisable then I will do it.

    Create a subdomain for each topic that will be very clear for reader and they will be get correct information about particular topic. Google will give you good ranking if visitor will be feel comfortable reach on your blog and will be find perfect information according their search query..

    Visitor will be feel comfortable also if I will use folders.

    I would like to know from an SEO point of view if google does not like websites that treat many different topics (in this case I will create sub-domains).
    Yahoo for example use subdomains, HuffingtonPost instead not.

    It is not good to do like that. You can pick up only one product that you want to promote.

    Why is it not good to do like that ? Other websites do that: yahoo, huffingtonpost, cnn, bbc, etc.

    And why does some websites ( like yahoo ) use subdomains ?
