It has some value. Difficult to predict. At first glance, it seems quite valuable. But many film institutes are actually schools, and they use a .edu domain. That said, if you would like to PM me a price, I might make a speculative purchase. That is, of course, assuming you own the domain for which you are seeking an appraisal.
That's not always the case. Frequently people are asking for appraisals of domains they'd like to buy. Trouble is, if the domain appeals to the people providing the appraisals, then that person just invited other bidders to vie for the merchandise! Personally, I haven't ever done that; but I imagine it happens. Which is why I'd never seek an appraisal in public for a domain that I was eyeing.
ImageAuthors, I totally agree with you. Thanks why I threw in the LOL Also, I noticed you wrote "At first glance, it seems quite valuable.", isn't that exactly what someone would want from their domain name/ website/business name
Absolutely. Valuable at first glance, and at the second and third too. It's a gorgeous domain, and it initially seems to have very good sales prospects. But that impression fades a little bit when I put myself in the shoes of potential buyers who already own domains like AFI{.com}, CAFilm{.org}, NWFilm{.org}, or SeattleFilmInstitute{.org}. These organizations already have established sites, and each of them obtained the domain name they wanted. Clearly they wanted and got something short. Most of them -- being non-profits -- will favor the .org extension, which they already have. And since they are regional in nature (and proud of that regional focus), they may very well want to keep the geographical part of their identity. The same goes for the British Film Institute, which deliberately uses BFI{.co.uk}. And it's hard to compete with .edu domains like MI{.edu}. Perhaps you see what I mean about the second glance.
ImageAuthors, this has the making for one of those endless discussions So instead of replying I am just going to thank you for the feedback. I certainly do respect and appreciate the feedback you offer to me and the other members of DP.
Low end $350 High end $700. I don't see this going much higher. Any offer around these prices is fair IMHO. Good Luck I revised my appraisal based on comparable names sold...
Nope. I completely ran out of things to say. Just one opinion, and you may take it for what it's worth. Best of luck.
I was actually talking about myself replying to your comment and then waiting for a response I hope I did not offend you, that certainly was not my intention. I was refering to me endlessly responding.
