I recently received an infraction for this post. I only post those short "submitted, thanks" messages in the Directories > Solicitations & Announcements forum so that I can keep track of which directories I've submitted to. Otherwise, I would keep submitting to the same directories over and over, which is a serious waste of time for both the directory owner and me. Well, I've made my case. If I'm wrong then please reply here and tell me why. Thanks. AmCy
Please read the sticky in solicitations and announcements. Link: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=139064 I keep a spreadsheet which shows which webs I submitted to which directories and date submitted. This works well for me.
Thanks for the reply, and for the suggestion. I keep a simple text file of directories I've submitted to. But I also like to see the checkmark on the thread in that forums so that I know I've been there and done that. Directory URL's are often not included in the thread title. I just find it a bit annoying that I'm being accused of trying to boost my post count, when in fact my post count means absolutely nothing to me. I'd rather be able to track my submissions in an efficient manner; my post count can be reset to 100 right now for all I care. I guess from now on I'll subscribe to the thread without replying, which should produce that same checkmark, I think.
What more is added in your post, Robert, than what was already said? Both posts serve same purpose. If you thought site stunk, why add your link(s).
I just suggesting a way to avoid an infaction without spamming or falsely increase your post. Bit silly of me really, because now you have seen my post, obviously you are going to look for people who do this method. Oh well. Just use a excel sheet like someone said earlier, and you wont get in trouble. Post count = worthless imho. It isnt increasing post count, it is basically dublicate post. Rob
Ah, ok. I just didnt want a infraction for disagreeing a moderator. I know how moderators are harsh when one of the members disagrees with their statements. Well i do agree, i just contradict myself sometimes. Moderating is hard, you deserve a victoria cross. Rob
Threads are not made to be user's personal notepad (I posted so I know which one I read already) for example. You *can* choose to subscribe to a thread you want to "tag". You can even create a subscription folder to put those types of threads in 1 area for you.
When I go out clubbing I put a Post-it note on all girls forehead I've tried to chat up but had no luck so I don't risk wasting my or their time trying again... Shawn explained it perfectly.
