Alexa is not a relevant tool to tell the web traffic stats . Baidu.com = ant Google.com = Giant Monster
heh for some reason I read this whole topic in my mind in a chinese accent. :| I just looked over Badiu and got a whole bunch of Q's and closed it HEIL GOOGLE! HEIL GOOGLE! LONG LIVE G!
Google is trying to open more China market. I have seen in one article that it will start 12 new services for China market in December this year.
I would say Baidu will one day take the Chinese market. English? Still Google. Google is strong. The search results are great, no competition.
This was merely my opinion based on the results returned during searches. I even searched for some chinese specific things and it just seemed like rubbish to me, inaccurate is what I mean... However, I am rather close minded and I can be absolutely wrong.
It's actually around 64%, Google owns 20% and Yahoo is 3rd with 5,5%. Not completely true. Do you think that the 123 million Chinese people with access to the Internet have no influence on the Alexa rankings? Baidu actually is a lot bigger than Google in China... That's probably because the top results in Baidu often are sponsored ones...
There is one thing you should know, there is no SEO in baidu, you can get the top one by paying the most for the keywords.
This only works for the most popular keywords, the keywords people are willing to pay for. Less competitive keywords don't require a payment, though. Besides that, you'll almost have to be a Chinese company to get in touch with Baidu for paid inclusion. Baidu does not do business with (smaller) western companies yet.
I'm Chinese. If I'm searching for Chinese information, I will use Baidu; while searching for English, I will use Google. Since this is in a Chinese sociality, and most people want Chinese information, that's why Baidu is the number one here. Though google has a Chinese version, and also popular here, its function is not as stronger as Baidu. China government doesn't ban google for anything now, and never restrict anything if it's legal. Or you can't see that about 40% of the world new fund was invested in China (according to Emerging Portfolio Fund Research data). China market is the most attractive market of the world now, but it's not the same as those in USA and Europe. This market has different culture, custom and tradition background. To success or even live here, big companies shall hire people who are familar with this background. Just copy the management system and company culture as in USA and Europe definitely will not make a foreign company success here. Yahoo China was sold to Alibaba.com, a company found by Chinese; ebay/eachnet was defeated by taobao.com, a branch company of Alibaba.com; Paypal China is going to sell and quit. For Google, last year it has 30% share, compared with Baidu's 45%; while this year, though increased to 35%, Baidu had a share of 57%. Among Google's top 3 leaders in China, one quit a few days ago, another is going to quit soon, and only Lee, the previous Microsoft China leader is there. But somebody (from Media) said Lee will quit also in the near future. To catch up Baidu, Google still has a long way to go. And if it doesn't adapt to local culture, catch up Baidu is impossible, even itself will be exceed by some local small search engines. Currently the top popular websites here are sina.com, baidu, qq.com, yahoo.com.cn, then it will be google.com. QQ is an IM which is very popular here, the other one is MSN. QQ is popular because it is the first IM in China, and at that time, there was not even Chinese version MSN, how can MSN exceed QQ. QQ is just like a daily tool for chinese, while MSN like an office tool. Even MSN's registered users is less than Alibaba's users.
Do you have an URL where I can find this information? The latest info I've got is the info I posted in this thread earlier, I'd love to get new info if you can share it.
google censors its search results, baidu doesn't. for anything chinese related, baidu wins hands down. Esp, with chinese news and content. I didn't realise the chinese were kept down...
Baidu still better than Google in Chinese search market , but Baidu's search qualities are going down.
Yea, it has biggest market in china. Caz they advertise all over china. And also one of my website get traffic from baidu around 50 to 75/ per day from baidu search engine.
