On the back of the Google checks there is a line where you endorse it. What is an endorsement? Can I deposit the check without signing it? The check says "For deposit only"
I do not know the official answer. In years gone by I have deposited many checks without endorsing, currently my bank is requesting I endorse. If I am banking by mail I always mark the back for deposit only at Bank Name. It is also probably a good idea to put account number to which you want it deposited.
Just wondering because I will be leaving for several months and would have a relative depositing my checks... I wonder if they could just write down my name on the back and that would be enough...
hehe... Don't think it would be a good idea to tell my bank that someone else will be signing my checks
In the US you don't need to sign the check if you are depositing the entire amount into your account with the bank. I deposit a hundred checks a month and a rubber stamp is used that says "Pay to the order of (bank name) for deposit only (your name) (account number)" - don't know about Mexico.
If I hold my payments for 9 months the amount would be so big that I would get investigated when I receive the check
How did you deposit your checks before? Just about all banks in the U.S. require the person or the company listed on the check to endorse the back before it is deposited. Why dont you just do direct deposit?
They don't have that here. Realy stupid that they offer it for some crummy unknown country like Slovakia and can't offer it across the border.
You don't need to sign the check - and I have had accounts at several dozen different banks in 38 states. You only need to sign it if you are taking cash out. Just look at the back of your canceled checks - they are never signed by a business - although you needn't be a business.
The 2 banks i deal with require me to sign the back and when i do forget to sign it, the teller gives it back to me and tells me to sign the back.
Right, you just can't hand over a check without anything on the back of it - but they only require you to sign it because you didn't endorse them as a payee and write you account number - something you can do with a rubber stamp. If you don't do that, they will just ask you to sign it and write your account number on it.
I always have to sign my check If the amounts you get are good enough get the check Fed-Ex-ed to you sign it and send it back. It might take a little longer but it will be all legal Else just find a bank where you are going that will cash the checks or deposit them in an account for you hope this helps pixads
fryman : if your living why don't you put Hold on Payment so you will recive a higher check afther the time your where gone
