5 Things I Wished I had Know When I Started

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by cameronpalte, Jul 5, 2012.

Hey Guys. Just wanted to make a short post for all of you guys about five things I know about my website now that I wish I had known when I started.

    1) The world doesn't revolve around you. Don't act like it does.
    2) Things are permanent. If you get banned from a forum you can't just join it back.
    3) Design is key. Many people interpret your design as how good your website is. If you have a terrible design people are less inclined to check your site.
    4) Be patient. Things aren't instant and take time. Don't get in trouble for trying to overspeed up things.
    5) Quality not quanitity. Having two very high quality posts a day is better than five terrible ones.

    Thanks. Hope you guys enjoy:).

Can I add this too? :)Learn from others, but build the system that suits you. What works for others does not necessary works for you.

    Great wisdom!
Although to learn this you first must try it yourself. So now that you know about it it defiantly makes things easier.

You can have all the site traffic in the world, but if they are not interested in what you are selling, they are not buying.

Adding on to something is always very good .
I would too like to add something -
    # Always listen to everyone but always do what you wanted to.
    # be a decision maker rather then an obedient boy.
    # being a leader is always good, but let other too lead the way, it will help you in learning things.

    and many others.

Number four really resonates with me. I find that when I try to rush projects I end up losing money unnecessarily.

Agreed. We have people posting 100's of identical ads on our site thinking they can get more traffic that way. One good ad in LA can get you more traffic that 100 ads in Alaska.

Good tips for someone just getting started. Number 5 stands out because there are so many places where you can post stuff for free that you can lose focus. You can join too many programs and lose direction.
