    I have tried a few pinging tools / services and never found any benefit from them. Maybe I'm not using them properly but I just don't see how they can help anything other than possibly showing the search engines where content / links are.

    Ping means that you are notifying the search engines and directories that your site or blog has been recently updated. It makes the search engines like Google and Yahoo get automatically informed with your site's status. So basically pinging your blog is as important as adding content on it.

    Pinging is not much effect, even some of websites are proving pinging options, but be aware it can ban your site by Google in some of ways.

    Pinging is effective but then i dont find it as a necessity. Google would anyways crawl your site, irrespective of you pinging the site. However you get your site indexed early if you ping it.

    Pinging is really very successful only for new websites which has low crawling rate. It can be excellent just if your sites or blog is new and isn't listed in the search engines. Well complete blog should not be pinged and should be permitted to obtain crawled and indexed in a ordinary way.

    Pinging is very effective. If you have new updates in your site you can start pinging it so that the search engine will know that you have new updates in your site then the search engine will crawl your site and be indexed.
