I had a discussion with someone about this article and THEY stated by doing a circumcision on an infant male was mutilation. They also stated that parents of males should allow their sons to make that decision later in life. They also stated that doing circumcisions on infant males for religious reasons was Inherently wrong.

I stated that the law was similar to Nazi control over religious groups. They were obviously insulted towards my labeling of the law laid out in the article. I stated also it was more of a botched medical procedure that caused the issue and not by a religious belief.

Mutilation: an injury that causes disfigurement or that deprives you of a limb or other important body part.

It's just a piece of flesh, not a limb.

Who should decide what rights parents have ? The government ?

By the way, when the child grows up, they can always decide to restore their foreskin, if that's what they want.

You did not read very carefully is appears. The case was about a "a four-year-old" not an infant.

I do not know German law, but I would not presume that is automatic it would apply to an infant. Personally, I would not let parents circumcise a 17 year old boy without his consent but I think it is perfectly acceptable for parents to decide for an infant.

I want to open a business selling wallets made of foreskin. You think they'd sell?

What a load of bullshit :)

Of course it's an assault. What's next? cutting the nose? cutting off little girls clitoris? What about cutting off the 2 feet if it's written in a book?
We are born as we are, so there is no need to cut of part(s) of the body, for any reason.

^ Are you freaking serious??? ^

Let's cut female breast to reduce breast cancer...oh, and let's cut off every child's heart to eliminate heart disease and/or heart attack...!!!...UNBELIEVABLE...

Yep. Parents need to stop giving their children haircuts and they must stop cutting their finger/toe nails. These are unnecessary assaults.

Oh, I see your problem now...
If you can't see a difference between red and blue, no need to stay here explaining what's a rainbow to you...

The thing is that everyone should be able to choose for themselves.
Their child might not grow up having the same beliefs as their parents.
Would you also allow a parent to tattoo a child because they think it's "right"?

Also, religious circumcision is not always done right as stated by the OP. They don't always have
the education to go around cutting off flesh from people.

I am not against circumcision if the one having it is old enough to decide to have it himself.
I believe it's up to each and every one of us to decide how to treat our own bodies.

I myself would NOT have wanted my parents to do it to me, but then again, I'm not religious.

Agree. Especially that OP talk about circumcision on infants...
If one agrees with the religious aspect of circumcision, (s)he must agree with the girls circumcision as well. Both are trivial minded mutilations in my opinion...
Fortunately, if there is any word about it in religious books, it's a chance the word "penis" was not replaced by the word "nose" :)

You are so right, parents must ask their children if they want to eat/drink or not, if they want to go to school or not. Genius.

Again, we're talking red and you see blue.
We are talking about torturing infants by mutilating them, not feeding or educating them...

Yes, you are saying that children must be asked if they want an vaccination or not. If they want a haircut or not. I get you. You're a genius.

I have an idea! Rather than banning circumcision on religious grounds, why don't we just ban religion...thus solving two problems at the same time. :D

    Hehe...I guess I nailed it...

Now, that's the ultimate solution. But losers and other depressive people need a support in life to just keep moving, and most of the time, that support does not come from humans. That's why humans invented religion and gods to have that "support".
