Well I didnt have much luck in my other thread, so I decided to be proactive and setup a AdSense account and create my first Blog, here it is: http://www.theopsec.com Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Loads fairly slowly for me. Theme is pretty heavy, and I am not big on dark themes for blogs, but I guess it fits.
Well I appreciate the feedback, Microsuck. It's a start atleast. Im extremely motivated to make some cash, and I figure I would get my start with a WordPress Blog and just start adding current events to it. Not sure if this is the best way right now, but not sure what else to do. I have to continue to do my homework. Good news is, Ad-Sense says I have already made $1.49 LOL. Might be a complimentary profit though
Hey buddy, first thing is what do i get if i suscribe to your site? secondly its confusing is this a news site? For adsense i would focus on individual hobby type sites like for example you,ve done a bit on guns and a bit on a car for adsense do a seperate blog for both (you need many sites to make good money from adsense) and keep them keyword specific. This site looks like it could become a good authority site in time so keep building and link your future blogs to it. Tom
wow thanks for the advice guys, it is greatly appreciated. I have since updated to permalinks. Like I said, the blog is in its initial stages, and I have ALOT to learn. Im just going to throw it out there that my immediate goal is to pull in $1-2k/day. But I am humbled in the sense that I have ALOT of work to do. Interesting about the incentive-to-subscribe thing. What kind of incentives do bloggers typically give their subscribers? And as far as the many blogs, I think I will just focus this blog primarily on news, and then start a separate blog for cars (which has a huge following)

Thank you guys very much. Because of your replies, I am now more motivated and have a better idea of what I am looking at here. So it sounds like to me, I need to create several different blogs under different domain names, and ad-sense on all of them. Initially, i am thinking of making this "TheOpSec.com" the main Blog, focusing on rather non-mainstream news, and then creating a blog for autos, and a blog for bodybuilding, another for military, weapons, etc, etc. Am I headed in the right direction here? Or should I focus my efforts on a single blog? Thanks in advance! I've already made $3 on ad-sense! lol. every dollar is motivating lol
On a side note, there is still alot with wordpress I am still trying to figure out, such as how to get an e-mail subscription system in place, and how to add posts to the most popular/what's new categories.
Work on permalink structure and SEO. Then market your blog for traffic. Blog about what you want and start marketing with 5 articles.
Ok, on the permalinks - I currently have them setup as HTML friendly, here is an example: theopsec.com/blog/index.php/china-agrees-to-exchange-nuclear-technology-with-saudi-arabia-for-oil/ Question, would it be beneficial to remove the /blog/ out of the URL? Meaning, moving the wordpress to the root
Try installing these 2 plugins: Super News - excellent for adding current news!! Email Newsletter - this actually collects emails from comments posted and allows you to compose and email comments posted users whenever you want =] Once you login to your site (http://yoursite.com/wp-admin) just go to the dashboard and scroll down to plugins - go to add new and do a search for the above plugins - then install - make sure to click activate and you should be good to go =] Hope this helps! hi i can see any Privacy policy on your site it should be clealey visible part of the TC of adsense or they will ban your account, if it is on your site put on the menue bar.

Alright cool, well I have installed Super News. Thanks! I have been constantly adding news articles to the blog, trying to keep it current. Im trying to determine if I should already start a new blog, or continue to beef this one up first? Here are my stats for having the blog for 3 days. Visits: 147 Unique Visitors: 133 Pageviews: 492 Pages / Visit: 3.35 Avg. Visit Duration: 00:03:42 Bounce Rate: 61.22% % New Visits: 90.48% AdSense is only showing that I've made $4.19 lol
Heavy subject matter, too political and site is not attractive. Honestly I wouldn't stick around long enough to click on anything you have to sell. Sorry but that is my personal opinion.
Very interesting site. Especially the 'Speed' section (I've built and still drive cars for speed - just don't tell the local speed cops ). Nice videos - especially of the GT 500. Need some SuperSnake vids as well. What I will say is the first page is not focused. By that I mean there are too many moving parts on it. There are duplicate videos as well. My suggestion is an introductory statement that lets the visitor know what the site is all about. Granted, the menu bar tells some of the story. But a short blurb about the purpose helps focus the visitor. Your site also looks a bit like the Huffington Post or the Drudge report. Nothing wrong with emulation of successful sites.
