for the past 2 weeks, i've been getting about 15%-30% CTR on my ads, which is great but at the same time, i'm slightly worried because i'm making GOOD money (1k-2k a month if this continues).. is 20% CTR ok? i've lowered the number of ads on my pages because my CPC is like 14-25 cents, and the keywords i'm targeting are supposed to pay ~$1.
You are worried about having a 20% CTR? If you are everything the right way then there's nothing you need to worry about. Google Adsense won't ban you unless they find out you are using some fraudulent clicking service to get those clicks. But if you sending traffic the right way with no incentive for the visitors to click on the ads, then there's nothing to worry about. Maybe it's because your content is very interesting to the visitors, which in turn made them click on the relevant ads. Congratz! You are making the money that many of us only hope to make.
20% CTR will get you smashed in the face for the smallest inconvenience. I've bought traffic for the soul purpose of reducing my CTR... ...It felt awkward to say the least...I was buying traffic not to have traffic, but to make my CTR seem more natural. I'm sitting pretty at a consistent 7%, but the CPC of my keywords are relatively high, so there certainly is incentive for me to fly under the radar. You can risk keeping it at 20% for a few months, and hopefully it won't be a liability in the future. Just get ready for some manual reviews of your site soon.
If you are indeed getting legitimate traffic, then there's no reason to fear anything. Even if they do a manual review of your site, if you are not doing anything wrong, then they won't ban you.
it SEEMS high, which is why i ask, but i get super-targeted traffic (no, not sharing my secret, sorry). No, my site is not a link farm but there's 2 ad units in the body of the article, strategically placed, which is what i'm wondering, if i move my ads off to the side, they wont be as visible but will obviously be ads, the way they're set up right now might be misconstrued as part of the article...
