My Site is PR3 & approx 4years old - but I get relatively no traffic!

I started an online fitness equipment store about 4 years ago. It's called Kings of Cardio - (kingsofcardio.com) - I don't know if it is against the T&C to post your own website here? If so, Mods feel free to edit.

Either way, my site has good, unique and valuable content, imho. However, competitors sites like oneshotfitness.com have a lower PR, less useful information and still get 5 times more traffic than I do. I completely understand that PR doesn't mean everything, I just wanted to let you all know my site is decent - its PR3 isn't great - but it's not just a horribad site filled with spam.

My google analytics shows that I get approx 50 unique hits a day. That normally doubles come the holiday season. Why? Why do I get so few hits? What am I doing wrong? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Thanks - Matt

if anyone would like to lead me towards a solid SEO company that would be cool too. I am not looking to spend thousands each month, but I would be open to giving some business to a company that has a good reputation and some of you like.

I have done "SEO activities" for 4 years. I have a regularly updated blog with unique and relevant content and my product descriptions are lengthy and original. Please let me know the major aspects of SEO that I am not doing.

I do have a Twitter account for my site and I am on Linked-In as well (approx 80 legit connections). I do not have a FB account for the site because I could not think of a logical reason to create a FB account other than making Google happy. In all seriousness, a FB account would be a carbon copy of the same info that is on my site and its Twitter account.

The Panda update and its targeting of overused content is another reason I do not want a FB account. Two of my competitors that do have FB sites have fake likes and fake friends (literally not real) and I just don't want to go that route. Is not having a Facebook account really hurting me?

If anyone really cares (not that you should - I don't want to sound all sanctimonious) and would like to tell me why my competitor oneshotfitness.com gets wayyyy more traffic than my site, I would be v v v appreciative!!!!

You can pay an SEO company to provide quality backlinks for you, that would generate some traffic to your site. Make sure the content you have has a lot of keywords that you are targeting like "lose weight fast" "burn fat", even label your images with these keywords as google picks them up. Also, create a company facebook page and try to get people to like it. Everytime your post something on that wall, the people that liked your site sees that activity on their wall, and if they post something on your page, like, or comment, then all their friends see it too. You gain exposure to a wider audience. Link your blog, twitter, fb accounts together and offer a competition like 5 random people get $5 off coupons to the ecommerce site if they like my facebook page and follow my twitter. Also you can pay google for traffic via google adsense, but try to build up your backlinks, keyword searches, and rank higher on google....

What I mentioned above is just a regurgitation of the ebooks I read, if any "pros" can chime in...Also, you can write articles for general sites and guest post on other blogs: examples of backling. You can also do campaigns on your niche forums like bodybuilding and exercise forums. If you can get people to try, review, and like your products on the forums, they will all start to buy your stuff. Or you can be a sponsor of some big forums and offer member discounts. Also blogging is a big thing, if you can write relavant and useful articles, it would help greatly. Getting more traffic is a lot work, but it will translate into more money. so, the question is, how hard do you wanna work for the money :)

That's fine to post your website URL. Back to your question, high PR site doesnt mean it can gain good amount of traffic, it only means you have enough dofollow backlink. To gain more traffic, you need to work out on both onpage SEO and offpage SEO to improve your SERP for the major keyword

    Hi Peon,

The first thing I would do is do some keyword research and find some exact keyword matches with 1000 searches a month and locate the ones that have less competition and target those by providing a few great unique high quality content articles with the keywords embedded in them. There are some great keyword research tools besides Google Keyword Tool available but are paid like, Micro Niche Finder and Market Samurai. Then place links to each of the other articles in each article on your site, this is On-Site SEO. Then get some quality backlinks to those pages. Remember Google ranks pages not articles or posts. Submit your site to directories, social bookmarkers, social media, create a twitter account with your main keyword on your site and place you, create a fan page on facebook.

Participate on other competitors forums by posting some good content and answers without spamming and make sure that you put your website in the forum signature.

As far as pointing you to a real SEO course where you will get some real golden nuggets that really work. I can't give you my affiliate link here but I want you to succeed which is more important to me. Checkout Bring The Fresh on your browser. I have been a member here for about a year and am in the advanced group too and it is really inexpensive considering what you will get. I had been online struggling myself until I found them and you will be in for a treat. I use the same name there so if you come inside you will find me there too. They have an awesome forum as well, not as big as this one but you will feel at home, very useful and effective for your business.

Hope this helps and gets you where you want to go. Let me know if I can answer any other questions as far as SEO this is what I do.

    Best Regards,

    Reinaldo

    Hey Peon,

I just looked at your site on Alexa to see what is going on and what I see is that you only have 58 backlinks pointing to your site versus # 1 site on Google has over 5000 backlinks. This is definitely an area that you need to improve on. You have an awesome site and well layout just need to work on the SEO and building some backlinks. I believe that you have an awesome opportunity of getting better rankings for sure. This is why you are not really getting that much traffic. Top 3 spots on Google get approximately 65% or greater of the traffic and the rest of the other 7 get the trickle of the traffic.

    -Nice Magento site
-oneshotfitness.com is getting about twice the traffic u are.
-you keyword choices are poor. Learn keyword research.
-Your on page could use some buffing up. Particularly putting the high traffic keywords in the title.
    -more aggressive linkbuiling

You should consider getting like a 1 hour seo consultation to help your efforts on that site. You have a solid base just need a little work

anonymous479, The Netoworker, lifeplayer and Epoch -Thanks for all of the responses & really appreciate your input!
I for sure need to learn keyword research, but I do not know if I should be focusing on less targeted words like maybe a specific product of mine like "Life Fitness 95Ti Treadmill" therefore I face less competition, or if I should focus primarily on the most searched for keywords such as "treadmill" - "fitness equipment" and "home gyms".

I don't know your marketing budget, but I hear some companies "buy" facebook likes for their fb page. Once you get 1000+ likes, you reach a huge audience everytime you post something. Especially powerful for discounts and daily specials.

    I never tried it though....

but wouldn't that be a huge "fake" audience? I assumed the likes were accounts started by click farms and that the likes would not be real people who follow who and actually see your posts?

so do "fake" Facebook likes really help? If so, I'll do it. Someone also mentioned buying traffic. Is that considered black hat? If not, why doesn't everyone buy traffic. The hits seem fairly inexpensive.

    KingsofCardio,

I just took a look and really saw a couple things really fast that could help improve your traffic.

    • While you do have a blog, it really is not optimized well at all. On top of that the content maybe there but the interaction aspect is non-exsitient (Social, Comments, etc...)
    • With Social Media it really is the opposite of what you are thinking. It is not so much for you, but what if your clients wants to find you but does not have Twitter or LinkedIn? Facebook is the most widely accepted social media platform right now so not having one is like chopping off a leg to your business.
    • While I cannot see your campaign right now I would assume you are optimizing for informational search terms vs. Transactional related terms. This meaning that consumers are finding you when they need research but not when they want to buy!

Those are just a few short things I see. I did message with you some more info if you are serious about getting your marketing back on track.

    Hope this helps,
    Nick B.

I don't have time to give you detailed follow up, but I will say this. Do Not! DO not buy facebook fans. They're fake. not real. dont give a single flying fuck about your products. They have zero point zero (0) influence on serps.

I would say that you should start creating Facebook Fan Page.

How about creating videos and create a YouTube channel?
I am working for somebody who's in weight loss program niche and she uses social media that much.

Also, you can create account on Pinterest and posts your video and photos there.

If you want a help, you can pm me. :)
