Are you willing to pay to submit in new directory?

The question is are you willing to pay a very small ammount, say $1 or 2 for submission in a new directory to get a value link?

I run few directories as of now they all are free to submit, I get about a thousand submissions everyday. since they are free and I dont even run adsense ads on them so I have no income from them..

now I am planing to make a new directory but charge a small ammount like $1 on every submission. its will be a quality directory with quality link back but are you guys willing to pay this ammount for a new directory??

im certain as soon as you implement that $1 charge your 1,000 submissions will drop to about 50(if you're lucky) a day.

what are the urls to your director(y/ies)

I'd say put a fee on those freebies that covers the paypal expenses and most of the submitters/spammers will go away...

I actually want to charge for every submission but after thinking that this is my first directoy project(don't really know whether I would have another directory or not),I thought it's worth to NOT to charge first.

But for The Webmaster, you have rights to charge and I would definitely pay for the quality directory for the sake of quality backlinks pointing towards my site.

    Good luck!

It's looking great, neat design, easy to navigate. On left side if you will collect "Value Links" and "Welcome" together as, "Welcome to ValueLinks.org" it will look better.

I have submittd Elegant Directory as featured and a number of regular links there :) Good Luck with your new project!

I think the problem with this might be the newness. Converting an existing directory to paid might be a better idea than putting up a new one and making it paid. It's all about having a track record and an established presence, those sort of things make people confident in paying for a link.

I'd be more likely to pay for a niche directory than for a general directory.

The market will pay the perceived value of your link, this is way BOTW costs more than $100 and Alive and Aviva charge $35 and many others sell listings from $0.50 to $300 year.

If I were you I would not bother with $1.00 links, you will just make Paypal richer because they will take .42-.48 of each one. Make them 1.99 as a minimum and then if you want to offer deals just post them here, like buy 5 links for $5 and then folks can send it in at one shot.

I agree with that.. but at one time every directory is new. I am willing to promot it well. For me its only matter of establishing trust value.
I have spend few bux already on this directory and I have a complete business plan for it.
    I couldnt agree more..

The fee is just keep spammers away. and paypal charges $.34 as minmum charge..

Well no one gonna mind spending 1$ on a good dir to get a link and I got your point of charging 1$ so as to keep the spammers away and only serious people will submit ;)
Meanwhile .. nice design but the image on the left side which reads " Just 1$ " is kinda blurred .. have a look
    Good Luck ;) :)
