Hi guys I've got my car advertised for sale and recently received a response from someone who wants to buy it (unseen), pay with PayPal, and arrange for it's collection. Something about this makes me slightly nervous. I don't have a PayPal account but a quick bit of research suggests that there exists a known scam where the item sold is not sent to the buyer vis a registered courier. The potential buyer and I have swapped a couple of e-mails - my last one suggesting the car be paid for in cash at the time of collection. (I'm only asking £750 - so it's not as if we're talking wheel-barrow loads of drinking vouchers here!) Has anybody encountered this sort of scenario before? Cheers, Gaz
Don't do it. Take cash or some sort of certified payment. Don't ever deliver a car to some arbitrary courier service. I've sold several cars online, even 1 internationally. Do not take a form of payment that can be reversed for a vehicle. Do not deliver the car to anyone until the money is in the bank and cannot be reversed. It's just asking for trouble unless you personally know the buyer. Even though it's only £750, you end up being out the money and the vehicle when the transaction goes bad. I would also be very cautious of money orders and cashiers checks. There's a lot of fraud that occurs with these as they still aren't a guaranteed payment until they are completely cleared. You need to wait about 10 days before delivering the vehicle as these need to clear the banking systems.
you can refer to https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/w...63663d3faee8d8494db9703d295b4a2116480ee01a05c it is about £25.70
