a buddy of mine sent this, give it a listen, it'll crack you up. http://howtoprankatelemarketer.ytmnd.com/
That's awesome. I'll have to give that a go sometime. You feel a bit mean though, poor guy was just trying to make a buck.
Very good. I use to ask if the marketer can hold on a little bit, then I just continue doing what I do until the guy hangs on.
Well funny but not good.. I used to work as telemarketer when I was back in uni. We used to work under very high pressure to achive the target... Managers are like get the target or get ready to lose your job. there were girls working with us and not even a single days went without us having one of those girls crying, because of people misbehaving and abusing.. Telemarketers already have a hard time...please dont make it even harder for them.. If someone calls me and if I am not intrested in the offer, I simply tell them that they are wasting their time.
Nice....well...I udnerstand telemarketers have goals to meet etc..but OK..here's the deal...some stupid company calls me 100 times even whenI've told them I dont need stupid long distance calling cards...now...they call and hang up when I answer the phone and when dad answers it..they try to annoy him..WTH!.....
Telemarketers does not have the right to disturb me in my home and trespassing my phone so I can treat them as I like.
Its not the question of what you can do.. but its the question of if you should do... Telecallers are also human and they are doing their job to earn a living... Well I just made a point as I worked with them, I was one of them..agree or disagree, its on you..
The same could be said about spammers. They are both in the same category as telemarketers. My home is my sanctuary and only friends, well-behaved family members and invited guests are welcome. Someone invading my privacy and annoying me over the phone is no different than them coming up to my door and doing the same thing. The difference is that my dog keeps the door-to-door solicitors away. If only a tool as effective as my dog were available to keep the telemarketers out. I pay for a phone for my convenience, not to be used as a sales tool by inconsiderate oafs who do not respect my personal space. Webmaster, you are to be commended on one thing...that you have at least now chosen another profession that hopefully (unless you are now a spammer) is much less annoying to the general population. Being a telemarketer is a poor choice for a profession and unless they (telemarketers) are willing to give me their number so I can call them back during their personal time at home to have them now explain what a wonderful offer they have for me, they should change jobs now!
I was a telemarketer for some time, but stopped it because I disturbed people, I didnt like the feeling of doing that. Its like avi8r says, its spam.
It isnt really the telemarketers fault, more of the company they work for. Just say you aren't interested, thanks anyways, and hang up.
There is a difference... you dont get spammers on phone or anywhere near you to yell on them.. and BTW its general chat so the red you've given to me has turned to grey..
Sorry to disappoint, but I didn't give you red rep. Personally I think you've got guts for admitting you used to be a telemarketer since they are so dispised (i.e., considered the vermin and scum of the earth and a plague upon society), AND I respect that you have since made a better career choice. Besides, I rarely give out red rep because like anything else I think it has karma attached to it. You give it, you're more likely to get it...
Hey, no problem, I got a grey too, but with a positive comment attached. But I have to admit that the greys that crack me up the most are the ones where newbies are trying to give red rep but don't have enough posts to give anything but grey...
in the USA, we have a 'do not call list'. if your phone number is on that list, telemarketers are not supposed to call you, and if they do, they are breaking the law. so what you do to them over the phone or say to them, IMO is quite all right. what was done in the link i provided was quite funny and i think quite alright. in the past the most i have done, besides requesting they add me to thier 'do not call list' is to ask them to hold a moment and place the phone down and go do whatever it was that i was doing. after a minute or two they get the idea and disconnect.
