I have a double optin mailing list with 5000+ subscribers. Any suggestions as to how it can be monetized?

Send e-mails to tell websites updates and use adsense, it's the best way to get money without loosing visitors.

No no no. Using a list to get AdSense clicks is a waste of time. Even if
they all click on an ad at $1 a click, you're still only going to make $5K.

Build a relationship with them by sending them freebies, tips, hints etc.
Then occasionally send out the odd affliate product. If your list is well
built and you have a good relationship - you can get anywhere up to
    10% conversions.

For a $97 product at 5% conversion with a 50% payout, you stand to
    make $12,500 :)

WillB, you didn't get my point. I said to him use ADsense on his website, so people will enjoy reciveing good e-mails and will visit the website to check updates and will click on the ads.

I did get your point, and I disagree - you don't want people
to visit your website unless you're selling a product. If you
are selling a product, then you shouldn't have AdSense all
    over your pages.

There is more money in selling products than there will ever
be in PPC. Maybe I should be packaging that "secret" into a
    $97 eBook :)

Thanks for all the inputs. I am already using it to send website updates. As Willb pointed out, it is not very useful for CPC advertising, it is better for affiliate marketing . The email recipients are from different countries , mainly Asian, so there are few decent affiliate programs available.

I agree. You wouldn't want to take a visitor to your page and will lead them to another website and not possibly buy from you.

And how do you sell products online @WillB. Any good tips? aside from pay per click
