I have heard many times from SEO guys, that if you link to bad neighborhoods your page rank will go down... The question only is how to find those bad neighborhoods? Any ideas? I did some submission to directories last few month... and my pagerank (PR) drops from PR5 to PR3... Any ideas? Thanks
If your site theme is car industry then link just to sites which are closely related to your theme. Don't link to some casino or spammy sites. You can check is this site which you want a link from link to some bad neighbourhoods by checking on msn with this query: linkfromdomain:domain.com
before linking do small reserach on there site content and backlinks of that site.See incomming and out going links if u think every thing is fine and revelant to your topic then only u go for it.
google won't punush you because other websites are linking to you - no matter the website theme. after all, you can't control the website linking to you. if that was the case competitors would use that agains each other. of course, that could be the case when considuring the TrustRank theory. The only thing I do advise you is to pay attention to the site you link to - that does have an affect by google.
For outgoing links try to link to relevent sites but also sites which look respectable and above board. For incoming links there really isn't anything which can be done to stop some sicko linking from say a pornography website to your good wholesome website to bring it down by affiliation. Unless anybody else knows any better?
Before linking to bad neighborhoods, you must check their site first before linking to them. Check if the link to your site has a "no follow" command and if the site use blackhat techniques
You are not punished if other websites links to you and they don't have related content but if you have a backlink towards them then it would seem like you are exchanging links and that wouild not look very good on your website.
why link to anyone. who needs to? just get your links to your site and forget about any other suckers.
it looks like googl-e PR is dancing... today i could see it PR5 at my googl-e toolbar... then again went to 3... yea the easy way just dont link to any website but seems to me like googl-e goive you soem weight if you link to good websites even they dont link to you anyway still no clear answer what is bad neighborhood and how to find it...
the most important thing before linking to other sites is to check their site first. the back links and traffic as well. and of course, it must be related to your site.
As per usual with this forum you get no real answers because everybody just spews regurgitated rhetoric that has been fed to them in the past. Here let me add to the non-sense: Do four days of research and only link to the site if it is backlinks check out and it is parallel to your sites theme. check out every backlink to the site to make sure it is not a casino or spammy site. Keep updating your site with fresh, original, keyword rich, made for human consumption content......... blah....blah.....blah.....blah......blah It is all garbage. The thing that brought websites to the top of the ranking today will get you banned tomorrow. The SE's have created quite a cesspool that they seem to not have any intentions of fixing.
