Hello guys I want to know how many words are required for a good seo optimized article(Specially for google). Moreover I want to know how many time can I repeat a single keyword or phrase in an article of 500 words. How many anchor texts can i use and what should the anchor text look like if my website's keyword phrase is "free online jobs"

I feel like this question is a bit skewed...After Penguin, it seems like the trend is towards 'natural' as the new SEO. I would avoid number targets and go for what makes sense, first and foremost. That said, a few times is probably more than acceptable so long as the actual content and links do not appear spammy and are relevant. Chances are if you're worried about how many times you're saying a keyword...you need to rewrite the article.

I think you should focus on "how useful is your article for the reader", that way you will use the keyword naturally, but if you want an exact number, I believe a minimum of 300 words article & max 5% keyword density works great for seo. For backlink, I usually insert just one link to my site for each article, so the readers wouldn't be disturbed.

But I have asked the best or average number of words per article. Not about its maximum or minimum number .

Well, if you look at some news sites (whether it's BBC news or GSM Arena), they don't always have long articles. Travis is right, it's about writing for humans (naturally) now. If you write an article naturally, then you might find the keyword only appears twice (maybe three times). However, you will find that you also use other related words, too. A high keyword density isn't necessarily bad. One of my sites was ranking #7 before and after Penguin, despite having the keyword present about eighteen times. But the article was readable, it wasn't stuffed (keyword stuffing is different to high keyword density), and also very informative on the topic. I have actually now rewritten the article and it is now #9 (but I think my competitors are probably the reason for the drop - high authority sites, whereas this is less than six months old).

    So:

#1 Write something people will want to read (forget search engines), so don't concern yourself with keyword frequency of length of the article, but interesting material.
#2 Don't worry about anchor text, just relevancy of the article in relation to your site. Trying coming up with several related keywords, but also generic phrases.
#3 Make people want to link to what you post. So, guest post (for example) to a relevant blog rather than submit to lots of article sites.

This is really a very excellent help. Could you please provide me a little help so that I can offer best articles to my readers. That means I do not use to read too long articles and short articles are bad foe seo therefore I want to know an average number of words we should use per article so that we can maintain a good relation with seo and the valuable readers.

Just write about the topic. If you try to achieve a specific wordcount, then you risk adding in pointless "filler" words and phrases just so the word count is higher.

What I would recommend is visiting GSM Arena and looking at their news section:

    http://www.gsmarena.com/news.php3

    And also their blog:
    http://blog.gsmarena.com/

See how the content is written for their visitors? And that there is a lot of user activity? The articles vary in length, but none are very long (except for reviews, previews, etc).

    The also visit SEOmoz blog:
    http://www.seomoz.org/blog/
    http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/

And you will see that their articles are usually longer, but that's because they have more to say.

Requiring x article length is a myth. Of course, it's a problem if the page has little to no content (like 30 words and lots of ads above the fold), but if the news/article is relevant it doesn't matter if it's only 150 words. Don't forget about linking to other articles you've already written that are relevant (you'll see that it happens a lot on SEOmoz and this is very valuable for visitors to help discover other content).

So, the point is: write what's relevant and don't worry about how many words, just if your audience will like it. So, ask someone who knows nothing about SEO/making websites to read what you write. This is the best feedback you can get.

Your focus is to write an article with 95% emphasis on the subject and viewer. The other 5% are tweaks to optimize the article to include those longtail keywords. It's more important to have "pink fuzzy bunny slippers" appear within your document than it is to have it repeat 15 times throughout. For major keywords use sparingly a few times through out the page. For secondary keywords once or maybe twice (if need be) is more than enough.

My friend it's not about really the number of words per article (but a good one is 300 minimum). Google Penguin is more focused on the "natural" way of utilizing keywords which don't read like a spammy one. Make sure you write a quality article with relevant links.

I don't think you need to care about words. Because if you are able to explain your topic within any number of words even 100 words, it has a value. You need to care about how you gonna make your topic informative and more user friendly.

400-500 words are enough for a good article. But matter is that your article body is good in quality wise. Article body should be relevant. No extra stuffing of keywords. Article body should not be promotional etc.
