Yeah I agree there's a lot of people trying to make quick money on Flippa with low quality sites, or over-hyped sales pitches, but that's the same for any online auction place. My long term goals involve selling sites on Flippa, that there is no where more specialized and known for it. You can find some great sites on there, but have to do your research and due diligence as with any other purchase.

The customer support seems fantastic though. I've had past experience with eBay, and actually stopped selling there due to their horrible customer service.

Just Wow! Now that is what I call support. Exactly the information I needed to hear!

I was quite aware about some of the cons, but I believe the pros will prevail :) And to be frank that is exactly the bid I hope for! High $XX - Low $XXX are my expectations for a fair sale. If I can sell for such a price, I can provide websites of much better quality on regular basis and hope to reach decent income that could now support a family. Thanks for your congrats. :)

Thank you for your kind review, Andrew! This is the type of situations that differ professional online businesses from the rest. Acted real fast, short and to the point!

    Regards!

I was always curious about flipping sites. Haven't tried it though. So the insights I got from this thread would be helpful if indeed i go with that business model.

Just to let everyone know, thanks to Andrew, I fixed my listing with the recommendations he suggested and received two bids the moment I published the new updated version.

The bid is on $25 right now. Unfortunately, there are no bids at all in the last 48 hours, like everyone said.

Currently there are only 8 hours left until the end of the auction and I hope to get some last minute bids. Otherwise it will still be a plain loss for me.

Well I consider my listing as an experiment, if it sells as Andrew suggested ( high XX - low XXX ) the above quote might be proven wrong.

In only 8 more hours I will let you know whether selling small sites on flippa is actually profitable or not. :)

One of the big problems with flippa is the amount of "Make $XXXXX a day flipping websites" ebooks, courses etc. that are being peddled at the moment. All they seem to do is encourage people to build 7 rubbish sites a week and then flood flippa with them, making it really difficult to sort our the wheat from the chaff.

If you are selling cheap sites then Flippa is quite poor and very expensive. In fact their recent increases in charges have indicated they are trying to get rid of the low-end seller.

It's a good site if you have established, high-end sites though...

In my experience Flippa has proven to be a great service. I guess it all depends on the supply and demand.

Well just to update you guys, my website listing ended a few days ago and it sold for 65$. It's not much, a little lower than the actual estimated value of the website, but it's fine.

Still it was kind of an experiment and I 'm satisfied with the result. This proved to me that small developed websites actually CAN be sold with a profit at flippa.com, of course, whether that profit is satisfying depends on your standards. The secret is that you shouldn't overhype your website, and you better have some visits if you want it to sell.

The transaction between the seller is going smooth, still waiting to get the money, but the guy looks trustworthy and professional so I believe it will work out just fine.

Yes Andrew, I delivered everything as promised and the guy was kind enough to pay me before I push the domain to him.

Thanks again for your push in the right direction. You provided great support, and overall it was quite a pleasant experience. Hope to have many more like these in future too! :)

People use flippa to buy sites with earnings. If its a new site you would be better of selling it on DP.

Thanks to penguin update, I started looking at the direction of flippa. Was thinking about selling stuff like OP does. I had to realize, some sellers only seem to be successful, meanwhile in the back, lots of shady things are goin on, like driving the price up of JUNK sites by faking screenshots, and faking bids.

I think some sellers sometimes actually 'buy from themselves', to say.

The fees are excessive at flippa. If you can get traffic to your sites and start earning revenue, that will be in your favor and maybe you can sell it in this wonderful forum where the guys don't charge. How great are they? Why can't flippa do that?

I played around with Flippa a couple of times in the past few years- Waste of time IMO The fees are excessive so unless you are selling a high end site that goes for some decent money you are wasting your time. If you are a buyer the listings are full of low grade turnkey sites made to scam amateurs so have fun weeding through that.

The OP said he got $65 for his with 64 pages of original content that's less then $1 a page then take off $25-$35 for listing fees(not sure what the fees are up to now days) .50 a page and nothing for the domain time and energy spent? yeah should of spend $5 on the bold and $10 on the highlight how about another $20 for a featured listing? lol

I liked Sitepoint back in the day they got greedy and spun Flippa out of it now it sucks.

Don't forget about flippa success fee, which is a minimum of $10, or 5% otherwise.

So it looks like: $19 listing fee, min. $10 success fee = $29

    +domain +other stuff... eh? :O
