Why my CTR is low?

I run adsense in one of my sites. it's http://bdstudentstalk.com
I get around 2500 page views per day. I get around 450-500 unique visitors from google.
But my CTR is quite low i.e not more than 1%.
Any ideas what can i do to increase CTR and my earnings.

Does that language support for Adsense?
Anyway, You are just using "link units" which has very low CTR. Use text ads or image/rich media ads to get a higher CTR.

 

I use link units only on homepage. My other pages get more visitors from search engines than the homepage. I use text ads or image ads on other pages.

 

Isn't Bangladesh one of the poorest countries in the world?
You'll have to explain to me the logic behind hoping for anything from putting adsense on a bangladesh site.. especially not a business site, but a student talk site exclusively reserved to bangladesh people.. I don't understand..
If you do it out of passion because you enjoy providing service to your countrymen, I understand and that's fine, but give up on adsense or earning anything via PPC..

Yes sure, it's around 150 from less than 200 countries.. "developing countries" is just a politically correct word in the western world, before it was called "underdeveloped countries".. By 2050 it'll probably make it in the top 100.. come on.. If there's no active market, then the earnings are low with adsense, end of story.

CTR low mainly due to 3 reason
1. Crap site/low quality site
2. Non-targeted traffic or low quality traffic
3. Bad layout design or bad advertisement setting/placement
You need to know which is the reason before you can improve it

 

Try to read up on heat maps. People read a certain way, and if you exploit that, you will have them clicking on your ads without them even noticing.

 

The placement could be a bit better and the type of ads. Try 728x90 ads inside your content.

First forums don't perform well for adsense or any other revenue generating model.
You are targeting Bangladesh.
you are not targeting profitable.
probably you are getting most of the traffic from members.
change ads to big rectangle.

Start new site. Either target millions visitor (India) or target better cpc market (US).

 

I think you need a 728X90 ad in the header....those are my biggest earners.

If you are using wordpress, you can try a high CTR adsense plugin, like Adsense for Wordpess

 

Agree with Jamescolin. I never targetted sri lankans though I am a sri lankan. You will get a low CPC though the CTR is high. Target USA and developed countries.

You can use large rectangle ads 336x280 for high CTR.
